So I ordered in mid Sept, build date was 10/12. I was told it was built and the Vin changed, I have pre-build vin and post-build vin. Then I got called saying arrival 10/29 - 11/2. I called on Saturday and it was 10/31 - 11/3. Now today is 11/3, I called and as soon as I asked the guy was like oh I called and left a message to find out where it is but haven't heard back yet. The computer is down so I'm not sure... Perhaps I'm paranoid but WTF? I can order something off Amazon for $5 and from the minute the guy puts it in the box I can track it to my house. I am paying almost 40K for a truck and nobody can tell me where it is? Even the dealer can't track it? WTF? Are my expectations that high?

I once ordered a $0.99 product from Amazon that had a three month delivery window that started a month from when I ordered it. When it ended up arriving, it was in the most beat up box which came directly from China. The product didn't work. For $0.99, it wasn't even worth messing with.

I feel like telling myself that was a cool story bro.

Lower your expectations. That's what I do everyday when I wake up, and everyday my life gets better.

Remember your talking with a CAR DEALER... they lie ALL the time, all the way up to and including the day they take your ~$40K. Thats how it is. Too bad really.

Real question is: Why cant I find a car dealer with .... wait for it....... INTEGRITY??

How hard is it to say "I'm sorry Mr Sundog let me get that information for you and call you back.
Then follow up with the actual truth.

It could be in a port on a boat tho and all bets are off and they in fact cannot get that info. Held up in customs or something to that effect! I hate when that happens.

patience rockhopper - your truck will be here soon!!

They did the same thing to me. Turned out there was damage to my truck. They don't have to disclose it under a certain amount. It was in Jacksonville waiting on a new fender and paint. It had been hit by a rock in transit. I have a friend at a different southern dealer who looked into it and found out for me.

I was initially told a delivery a week earlier than the actual delivery date. I was told I got "bumped" off the transport, which made me wonder how a paid-for truck doesn't take priority. Maybe it just didn't fit.

At any rate, it seems like they're able to accurately calculate the build date, but the delivery date is a much bigger window than we're used to.

They use a software called dealer daily. The delivery and allocation dates are estimations. Actual dates can vary up to a week or more. Be patient.

Another factor you need to be mindful of. The vehicle won't show up as grounded until the vehicle has been inspected and inventoried by the mechanics at the local dealership. Depending on how busy your dealership. That could take a couple days as well

Sounds like the same problem i'm having...they keep telling me that its in the "window" of the delivery time...but what they didn't want me to know was that the "window" kept moving every day...mine has been sitting at a rail station for 7 days! The first date was 10/29 then it moved to 10/31...then 11/2....now its 11/4 but its still sitting in Chicago. hasn't moved one inch! So I blasted the corporate Toyota 1-800 # and they in turned blasted the dealer i'm working with!
So now i'm waiting on some idiot from logistics to find out what happened!

That's a shame we have to live life like this. But it's true, you can't expect shit from 90% of people anymore.

Mine has been in the port for almost a week now. Was scheduled to pick it up last friday. Guess what I am sitting here still waiting to pick it up. Being told before the weekend now.

According to the Shop Manager at my local dealership, there is a stop sale on all 2016 Tacomas. The 3 they had have been pulled off the lot so you can't even look at them.

I got tired of the mushroom treatment and canceled. Now I'm finding it just as hard getting a dealer trade on a plain Jane SR, 4X2, 4 Cylinder.

I'm getting tired of the same ole song and dance.
