Owning one in NH and being able to go out and about in the snow made this an easy fit for my wife ( kept her outta my Taco ;) ) and that cargo area was the balls; the 2-way tailgate spoiled us and that hidden "ice chest".

I bought an Si about eight years ago to use as a commuter and had a very similar experience. Big mistake. I ended up unloading within the first year.

The SEMA Ridgeline looks good though.

I've owned several Honda/Acura products (Accords, Civics, CLs & a TL) but, not an SUV, Van or "truck". I do like their lawn mowers and yard equipment for light work & I still own 3 red 4 wheelers (400ex, 450R & a 4x4 Rancher with ES & PS) but, IMO, Honda has lost its way in the auto world.

Overall, again IMO, reliabilty has fallen and their products have moved away from what made Honda cool to start with...

That said, I really dig some of the available technology they make abailable pretty much across their entire auto line like Honda Sense.

If the Ridgeline is built with body on frame & real 4x4 I'd consider if they can improve reliabilty.

I don't know why guys are guessing about the new Ridgeline. Honda has already confirmed it will have the Pilot guts underneth. So it will spec out much like the Tacoma and Colorado for HP/Torque but the lack of port injection will hurt it's low end torque. The 4WD system is what people would call AWD. It's FWD biased and uses clutch packs to transfer power to any wheels with no center differential. It's cool and should work well on slippery roads, but it's probably not something you want to abuse like a Tacoma or Colorado in the mud. Clutch packs burn out when asked to lock and unlock all the time with maximum torque.

Other than that, check out this Pilot. That's you new Ridgeline front end.

Agree 100% but, it's cool to think what Honda could do if they decided they wanted to be in that market.

A buddy I work with checked out the new Pilot as an MDX replacement for his woman recently. His take (and take it FWIW) it's a van in SUV clothing but, lacks what Hands has been known for in the past as far as accurate steering & feel...I guess driving dynamics. They're leaning towards another MDX or may cross shop to the new RX once it's available. So, if Hondas goal is to push customers to the Acura product, it might work but, they risk giving up customers to other manufactures.

I've had 2 si's and loved them. You don't buy them for comfort or fuel economy. You buy them to have a car that you can drive the piss out of for less than 20k (bought both of mine a couple years old)

I didn't enjoy my first si until I started driving it like it's supposed to be driven. They're high revving cars, they don't come to life until after 5500 rpms. It's not a rocket ship but it's bit slow either. The most fun you can have is throwing it around in some twisties. I used to out handle much more expensive sports cars on rallies

The fact that the Ridgeline is based off the same platform as the Pilot and Odyssey really hurts how far Honda is willing to go with it. It's too tempting to retain parts from it's siblings that are cheap rather than design unique components that could get rid of that CUV feeling.

    Right in the feels.

They should be fine. It's too bad though that they didn't make a version of their truck tough enough to run a few races in the stock classes and take home so trophies. I know Ford did that with the Raptor and has promised to continue doing that which is somewhat impressive. I believe other automakers have done that as well.
