There was camera angles floating around, that showed the puck clearly over the red line. But it's old news.

Which angles though? The angles from in front of the net don't work well according to the league. Those are the same angles that were used by Calgary to try and say that the Flames scored last year against the Canucks late in a playoff game but that the league refuses to use those angles because they say they aren't accurate.

Looks awfully close, but not 100% either way. Had it been called a goal on the ice I bet it would've stayed. Not enough evidence to change the call one way or another.

I don't know where to look for them. But there were a few different side angle video stills - along with regular photos - that show the puck beyond the red paint. And the NHL even acknowledged that they saw the same angles - but were not allowed to rule with them. Meh.

Was definitely a goal. But it matters not.

That looks like it came from a journalists camera lol. I doubt that angle was available to anyone making the decision. Hence, it's not a blown call per say but I can see why you'd feel that way. Refs and officials can only call things based on what they see and have provided to them.

The Ref actually called it a goal for a fraction of a second - then waved it off. The top view does not conclusively show the puck - so they could not make a determination. The side video stills - in sharp HD - show the puck over the line. But they said they couldn't specifically use those. So it went back to the final ice call. Which was no goal. That's how it ended. Whatever. The puck was in the net - but it didn't count. McDavid and Oilers didn't piss and moan about it. Neither did I.

Cuz they knew it wasn't a goal.

That's better glad you can accept reality.

    Glad you're done crying.

Hmm, the first part is interesting. That's a bad move on the refs part. One of the big things that does bug me about the NHL and other commercial high end leagues is the feeling that the referee needs to make a signal on the goal immediately when he blows it down. In all honesty, when you don't know, Hockey Canada says you should just blow it down and wait for your linesmen (in which case you make a decision based on their viewpoint and yours) or the review (in higher level junior hockey when available). If the ref had of done that in this case, which is probably not flashy enough for the NHL, it might of been a better deal for everyone.

The rest is what's already been said. Those views form the front of the net aren't allowed. I think it's because the angle can play tricks on your eyes because you might see white under a bobbling puck when it's not all the way across the line.

It's no biggie. I wasn't trying to make it a biggie. Just trying to add to the discussion a little because I don't think it's even close to the worst call I've seen this year. It looks like the correct call was made given the framework within which the call was made.

..but yeah, some guys it seems will target injuries. I am sure someone will attempt to test McDavid's shoulder against the glass when he returns.

The nut slash is a spear in the Hockey Canada rulebook and the NHL rulebook, but it's never called in the NHL. Even when it's brutal it's called for a minor. It should be elevated to an automatic major. It's the worse form of cheap shot along with the spear and two handed slash IMHO.

It's ruining the fucking game when I turn on the TV and three deliberate spears go as missed calls. A travesty to the fucking game.

The players are getting better at slashing, like the hawk player on Kopitar two nights ago. At regulation speed, it looked like a harmless poke check that resulted in a turnover while LA was trying to get out of their zone. Replay showed a vicious chop to the wrist (glove) that caused it. Hats off to the refs catching that because it just looked like a good pick at full speed.
