What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Damn, man, that's shit. It's one thing if you gotta diagnose and fix something but to have to do so when you already owe money. Rough.

I was thinking about going loan route, but instead I just got rid of my last car and spend 12 months without a car. That's how we poor folk afford trucks. But to not only afford a good truck but pay titling/registration + taxes, insurance and still have some money left, I opted to borrow some from a good friend. So I ended up paying 10K for my truck and have insurance paid in full, plus have money left to not worry entirely. But I do owe him 2.5K now.

 

Started working on beefing up my tcase skid after I bent it back.

 

Wow cool , show. Us the pictures of your truck , 2.5k left not bad, want to see your 10k investment, for me is just a 3er wheel ,i wiill not sale it for less that i paid for .... Knocing wood just keep calm and keep working

 

If it's just rainwater, it could be just your door seals. If it only did it once it might just not have been closed properly

Mine got new front brake pads and a new drivers side caliper. Both pistons on one side of the caliper were frozen (rusted) solid in place. The po had obviously been running it like that for a while as one side of the rotor is thinner than the other. Butthead. The pass side pads were almost paper thin from doing most of the work and the little scraper, noise maker, wear indicators were broken off. I've never seen those broken off before...
I thought about doing the tundra mod but decided to go cheap and see how the stockers work out before I spend the money.

 

I just picked it up yesterday, so all I've got for pictures so far is the one I posted in here earlier. Right here.

It's got dings and scratches, but it's got damn near every option and everything works without issue. Also, the frame has been taken care of. I did quite a bit of hammering on it before buying. Unless there is some hidden rust issue somewhere I couldn't properly test (please no), it should be good. I'll keep up on the protection.
It's got 162K on it, btw.

 

Sometimes I miss working in a garage. Mostly just when I need to change my oil

 

Yes, it is nice having a lift. Not bragging, but if you plan on living in a place for 5 plus years. Get a lift.

 

Never thought of buying my own. Aren't they crazy expensive?

 

That one there was $2015 delivered to the fed ex truck dock. I picked it up the next day with my car hauler. Setting it up was easy. Just don't be in a hurry and it is a fun project

I use the lift for unloading all sorts of stuff as well as using it as a workbench. Toss a sheet of plywood on the arms and instant workbench.

The lift is a back saver.

A friend of mine has a 4 post lift and it is awesome. Used it when i did my stearing rack it made that pita much easier

 

I love having a lift. But wish we had a two post as well as the 4 post. THe 2 post i think is more useful.

Yeaph sounds and looks good, if the protection was placed by Toyota dealer , you"re cover certain time , i pulled trigger on mine regardless of the 260k when i get it just because frame has been inspected and all clear plus 4x4 TRD, yours looks great grey color , love that one , gold and white, my green is 4th option but need paint work, not on my list of priorities.... On another note, took my spare tire out. Will be putting it back on tomorrow afternoon.

 

Spent a long time putting these pods in. Now i think they look ugly in that spot so il probably take off again...

 

Has anyone heard anything more about the OME BP-51 Coilover's and what vehicles they are producing them for?

 

Maybe if you mounted em back a little?
