least fussy way to get up to 1" additional ground clearance on SR5?

obviously there's a ton of information (and folklore and pretty transparent disinformation) in the threads on lifting a Taco. God knows I've sifted through a lot, and have learned a bit. But I still don't have a handle on a simple way to get just a little bit of additional ground clearance on a stock SR5. Since my understanding of Tacomas is admittedly weak, I'm looking for guidance.

my sense is that I can get just a little bit of additional ground clearance by swapping out the factory shocks for Bilstein 5100s and setting it at 0.85. Will that maneuver alone achieve the goal of getting just a little bit of additional ground clearance or do I need to get AALs, 18" wheels, whatever?

Jokes aside, the Billies will give you an extra inch up front on the first perch. It'll give you a leveled stance front to back and that sounds like what you're looking for. You could get a cheap block for the back too if you want to lift the whole truck an inch

 

It's actually very simple. A 2" bigger tire.

Only way is to get tires that are 2 inches taller. Not sure what stock height is but you can probable fit 255/75/17 or 255/80/16 on stock suspension those are 32" tires

 

Bilsteins set at .85 will give you the most cost effective "correct" way of gaining 1" clearance up front.

 

Ok my above post was the short answer, but the truth. Ground clearance is measured by the lowest point on a vehicles undercarriage, for is that would be the bottom of the rear differential. The only way to improve ground clearance is to add larger tires, and in many cases the best way to accomplish this is with a suspension lift. A two inch increase in tire diameter will give you a net of one inch increased ground clearance. Now, let's assume that the reason you want added ground clearance is to improve off-road capability. If that is the case I would suggest a suspension system that gets you adequate lift to clear 2 inch larger tires but is a proper suspension set up. If you just want it for looks and don't plan to do anything off-road then a spacer lift should be sufficient. If you plan on going off-road and want increased off-road performance then A coil over suspension system with an add a leaf in the rear or new rear leaf packs is the way you want to go.

Yep, need to specify what you are actually after. Adding the 5100s up front will give you a little extra clearance as far as the front, skid plate area is concerned. It won't give you any extra clearance for the LCA or anything at the rear. That will require taller tires. What and where are you actually wanting more clearance, and how much is a little bit?

Hey guys hope you can help me out. I have a 2016 DCLB TRD offroad arriving in a week. I purchased a 2016 OME 2 inch lift in the medium load. I want to get the 255/80/17 Cooper STT MAXX's with method NV 8.5 inch wheels. Prior to the lift can they fit? After the lift should I have any issues? The place I am taking to get the lift said to stick with my stock UCA's for some reason.
