I know you didn't ask for my tire size or load range, but I'll throw it in there to give you a more extreme end of the spectrum. I'm running 285/70/17 KO2's in E's and I'm getting a solid 16.5 MPG with mostly city driving.

I did my 265/70R17 KO2s in C-load plus supercharger at the same time. I get 16-18mpg depending on how much time I sit parked on the highway. Also consider your speedo will by off by 3%, meaning your mpg will be 3% higher than what you calculate.

    Tire diameter:
265 = width in mm, 65 = sidewall height as a ratio to width (tires have sidewall above and below the wheel, so x2 to figure diameter), 17 = wheel diameter in inches
    265/65/R17 = 265mm width x (0.65 x 2 sidewall) + 17" wheel
    265mm * 1.3 sidewall +17" wheel
    344.5mm sidewall + 17" wheel
    1" = 25.4mm
    344.5/25.4 = 13.56" + 17" wheel
    30.56" diameter

    Repeat for 265/70/R17
    31.6" diameter

    31.6"/30.56"=1.034
    3.4% difference

Meaning you went 3.4% further than your odometer says. When you calculate your mpgs, multiple the final number by 1.034 to get the correct number, otherwise you are plugging in less miles based on your odometer which will cause your fuel economy to appear to be less. 3.4% will likely equate to about 0.5mpg. The last digit will be insignificant, so I would just use 1.03 like I mentioned above. So when you swap tires and calculate your mpg, and get 17mpg without correction, 17x1.03 = 17.5mpg corrected.

:goingcrazy: Holy crap! I'm so sorry I wasn't ?ing your claim of 3 % . Just how to figure mpg if I go that route. That's backing it up though:bowdown:. Thanks again! :quickdraw:

No worries, you asked how I did the figuring so I showed all of it.

After my stock Bridgestone Dueler tires crapped out I upsized to 265 70r17 load C KO's. While I noticed an immediate improvement in handling overall, my MPG's took a noticeable hit and the vehicles on road rolling resistance increased. I couldn't give you exact figures, but it was a several mpg difference.

ATKO'S are not light like the piddly little stockers. 255 75r17 exist.

There is a reason they put light little tires on the stock trucks. They can advertise good mpg's and save money. It's a truck, you want nice tires you gonna get punched in the wallet...

    Remember " Smiles per Gallon>Miles per Gallon":D

Good thread. Answered my questions re: immediate loss of mpg as soon as I threw on bfg ko2 in 265/70/17. I am noticing anywhere from 2-3 mpg drop. Is that normal?

I did 265/70r17 ko2, wheels and level and my fuel economy stayed right about the same. Had the old bfgs on before so I can't say it got any better. I'm averaging around 16 mpg.
