    Fridge died yesterday. FML

Just had to remove the cabinet above to make room for the new fridge.

Bought a dorm fridge at Costco (which will be returned). Meanwhile most of my food was saved by bringing it to my GFs to store in her freezer/fridge.

Just not an expense I was planning on. Especially after dropping 5k on my crawl space last week.

Paid off my truck earlier this year, and within one week the A/C went out (AGAIN). Tech shows up, looks into things... explains the hundreds of dollars it'll be to fix the cheap ass A/C and, oh by the way, I have to red tag your 20+ y.o. furnace because of visible cracks in the exchange (think that's the right word). Talk about expenses not planned for... decided to go new and quality since I didn't want to invest again in the old and the cheap. Darn setup was almost as expensive as the truck payoff.

    I hear ya.

Figuratively speaking I felt the salesman double fishhooking me as he mounted up grinning.

My Dad replaced both A/C's on his 1500 sq ft ranch house outside of Phoenix. One's a 10 ton, one's a 2.5 ton (which is just for the master bedroom). He easily spent 16k on both. But his electric bill in the summer down there went from $500/mo to $200 at the same cooling level so that was nice.

Kind of glad I rent sometimes.

Yep, that's right about what I paid. F'n sucks.

Funny you should mention the drop in utility... We had the duct system sealed up (they did a 99% job of it, if you can trust their test), and turns out the old furnace was oversized for the house. In went a more appropriate and way more efficient system. The last two bills from Xcel were a credit... I can only guess the system is so efficient that there's less demand from the solar panels and we clearly produced more energy than we used.

I'm big on solar; I'll be putting in a system as soon as I get a place. Something about generating my own appeals to me; that and solar is so cheap these days.
