Hi All,

Quick question. My Tacoma is currently experiencing the bubbling/burning/melting DTRL issue that is well-documented and known. I am aware that there is a Warranty Enhancement Program currently available in the United States that allows for the replacement of the headlight assemblies to an updated model. My problem is that this policy appears to be only for the US. There exists one in Canada, however it has already expired (either 112,000km or 5 year old vehicle - mine is older than 5 years). The one in the US has unlimited mileage up to Nov 30, 2015, at which point their secondary coverage comes into play under 5 years / 70,000 miles.

What I wanted to know is why are the policies different? The vehicles would all have been made in the same factory? I have spoken to Toyota Canada about this, and they couldn't provide me with an answer. I tried going down to the US to ask, however they couldn't answer me either and the dealers said that they can't perform warranty work on a Canadian vehicle. Then here at home, the Canadian dealers say that the warranty no longer applies and that I'm basically S.O.L.

Does anybody have any advice to this? What sorts of actions could I take? I think I deserve the new headlights as I know they're still replacing them down in the States, but for some reason up here our coverage is different!

It sounds like you've already bugged Toyota Canada but that would be the first step along with your local dealer. Keep messaging Toyota and if that doesn't work see a lawyer. The lawyer can draft up something to send Toyota to show you will sue them. If that doesn't work you could sue them for your lights but that's costly and time consuming. Other than that I don't see how you'll win free lights easily.

You are probably best off buying something from the aftermarket and using LED signal bulbs to avoid overheating the new housing.

He retired a Lieutenant Colonel so one would think that he would of had to of done some paperwork and logistics during his time in command.

I just hope they can keep modernizing our forces and not take us 20 years backwards in procurement like the last Liberal government. The longer we delay updating the more difficult and expensive integrating the updates will be.

 

I think the one important difference is that he will start with earned respect of his peers in the DND.

and he has the servants in the ministry to help him. Just because the person in the spotlight changes does not mean the civil servants; those that carry out the work in the background change. He has learned and practiced skills in leadership overseeing large #s of resources, which is a lot more than a lawyer working in an office of a dozen to maybe a hundred employees would experience.

Well that's interesting but concerning as well. Ag Canada was rolled into health Canada and butchered a while ago. They changed basically every process to be as cheap as possible and scaled back grants almost to nothing. While more money and some actual Ag people at the head of things would be a nice change, the flip flopping is going to cause as much harm as good to the commercial side of the industry as far as regulation is concerned. On that note I believe they call the farm/farm suppliers Agriculture and the industry production/processing side Agrifood. Alberta is screwed anyways because Notley is promising to bring full health and safety regulations onto the farm. Just the electrical code would cost the average farm here a couple of 100k to upgrade right as commodities hit rock bottom.

 

I'm sure their office will be known as the hot box.

 

There's some I don't understand - Minister of Democratic Institutions (WTF that does that mean?) There is also a Minister of Science, but a separate Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development.
