Was it a dealer allocation? Because they should be able to give you a TEMP VIN and then getting a build date is easy. If not, see if they can find you one that's coming in your region and snag it. Apparently (if it hasn't been built yet) you can adjust the options on it, like removing the tonneau cover, adding JBL, mudguards, etc.

What defines a dealer allocation? Like they told me they were ordering it. But maybe that meant changing an existing order they already had in to match my specific one? All I know is that online the southeast region has two of my exact trucks arriving today and tomorrow, and I want to know why I can't have one of those!! Lol

Hmmm sounds like they did do a dealer allocation. It basically means a dealership in your region is already getting a truck (close to your specifications) and will be built and coming to your area. If it hasn't been snagged already its yours! It's likely the two trucks coming within the next few days have already been spoken for.

So doesn't that mean they should be able to give me a Temp VIN and/or a build date?

Ordered a Magnetic Gray TRD OR 4x4 DCLB two weeks ago. They had their hands on a build, but to upgrade to the JBL Premium, had to wait on another. Supposed to be starting the build today. Wasn't in a hurry until I ordered. Now I can't wait.

My wait is now over. I had to take off early from work, drive a long ways, and stay up later than my normal in order to go fetch her, but I now own my first Tacoma!!

No I didn't go with that. None of the features offered with that package were anything I really wanted.

I discovered that riding through the back roads of rural South Carolina, my fake hood scoop makes an excellent bug collector. I'm sure that will come in handy.

SOOO Today I decided to stop by a Toyota Dealership by my work not the original dealer I ordered my Tacoma. Sitting behind their lot I see a Inferno Double Cab 4x4, exactly what I had ordered back mid September. I asked a sales person if that one was sold and he said no but its about to go into the shop to get a factory lift and leather interior. I told him that I order the exact same truck and that my sales rep informed me yesterday that the truck was a week away from delivery and was scheduled at "port" on the 4th (yesterday). Sales rep tells me well we have this one and I can beat his price on the truck:). So I took pictures of the truck and forwarded it to my sales rep/friend and he tells me "what price did he give you? and we can match or beat". I showed the sales rep the text and he said he will give he his best offer tomorrow morning once he talks to the manager. Am sure I started a bidding war lol which is good for me and just perfect timing:taco: Whats yall guys thoughts??

Just my .02 I would buy from the dealership and salesman that has and will take care of you in the future. Salesman are a dime a dozen however they should be rated for working hard for you.
