I've been on the hunt as well and just downloaded OsmAndMaps for iphone a few weeks ago. So far I like it but I've yet to use it away from a signal so I'm unsure how it performs out there.

I don't know when you last experience was with Auburn Offroad, but my last one was complete bullshit, and a friend's last visit was also complete bullshit.

For me it was a 1 week turn around to get shocks and coilovers rebuilt. 1 week later, he had not started and said another week. 1 week later, he had not started. See a pattern? About a month later they were done, and ready to be picked up. Got them home an realized one of my shocks was pissing oil everywhere. Wanted me to drop it off again to "take a look." No thanks. After driving back and forth to Auburn at least 7 times, I was done.

My friend had headers installed. Price rose WELL over the quote, took WAY longer, and the largest part of his reasoning was because his skid plates were difficult to remove. Please.

tl;dr : I used to sing the praises of Auburn Offroad when he helped me meet a tough deadline. However, after my last experience I will not recommend them to anyone, for anything.

Now where to go in the Oly area... Not really sure. When I lived down there I drove by a place called Andy's Automotive and Offroad a couple times. You could swing by there and see how it feels.

In town and hiway, definitely google maps with the traffic overlay turned on. Off line I'm currently using OruxMaps which I believe is also offered on iPhone. It's ok.

this is exactly what I use. OsmAnd has always been good to me. Hunt by Onyx maps even better but you need to download the map tiles before you go offline. I like Top+Trails base layer.

Thanks to everyone that showed up last night. It was cool to meet all you guys. Also, big thanks to Jerrad and Cam for letting me try out their suspension setups!

Wish I could have made it, what were your impressions as someone who doesn't already own a specific suspension set up?

It's pretty much the way everyone describes the two setups on here. Keep in mind that I tested them out on the street and over a stretch of road with a bunch of speed bumps. We did not go down any gravel roads or do any kind of off-roading so this review is strictly from an on-road perspective and things could be completely different once off-road.

The Kings' (progressive valving) ride feels very plush and smooth kind of like that Cadillac feeling that people describe. There's definitely more body roll and it kind of feels like you float over everything. It's hard to describe but hopefully that helps.

The Icons (digressive valving) are much more firm and planted on the street. Less body roll and you don't have a floating feeling.

I can see the benefits of each setup depending on how you like your truck to handle and respond. For me, the Bilsteins that I have are digressively valved and with the extensive commuting I do the firm ride is starting to bother me, so I'm thinking that my next setup needs to be built around progressively valved shocks.

Oh and I'm not sure if we pointed this out last night, but I have 700lb springs with like 2 inches of preload and Jerrad has 600lb springs with very little preload. So that will make a big difference too.

The bolt on stuff...hell ya i would! But any sort of grinding/welding i wouldnt be much help.....well grinding yes but not welding

THough learning ot weld is on my list of things i want to do. Just have other expenses at the moment that are higher priority! (new roof, want central air, fence in back yard,)

Was just going ot post that you had a bit different setups in that regards.

@bigd9247 whatever brand shock you go with....go through a good vendor like downsouth motorsports or SDHQ (or others just those two come to mind!). One who rebuilds shocks. When you buy dont just buy the off the shelf shock. Theres nothing wrong with that but buying from a company who rebuilds shocks and talking to them will let you get a shock setup to your needs and desires. You want a commuting shock so you can have it tuned differently than someone who wants 50/50 or mostly off road performance. Any brand properly tuned is going to feel better than any other brands off the shelf shock.

If i was in your shoes I would go for whatever brand has the deal you can get, then have it tuned for your driving style. Remember black friday is coming up and a lot of brands do sales during that time. Ive never paid ot much attention to shocks during it though but im sure there will be discounts. Just a reminder since it sucks blowing more money than you need to!

Check SDHQ, their TW discount is better than anyone else's I think. That's where I'm getting my LT from.

And @velillen theres no cutting or grinding for LT.. To my knowledge haha
