am I crazy for wanting to try the slider box shackle thing?, seems like they would help keep a more even spring rate/feel throughout the travel?

Does it even have enough throw to work with lt sua springs? I have no complaints with the swing style shackles. You get more travel out of then. All the work is in your shocks anyways.

I could make a slider with enough throw, seems pretty simple, trying to not have low hanging rear hangars, I drag my bumper on the ground pretty often, even done the ol leaf spring skid on stuff

Couldn't you just do a hanger over frame like on a 1st gen for ground clearance. I could be wrong but it seems like the slider would want to bind a bit through the travel. 62" deavers are a bit hard to keep straight as they flatten out. I'm not against your slider. Just seems you are giving up a lot of useable travel.

2nd gen frames get narrower in the back, so unless I undovetail it cant do that. just exploring options. and how do you mean keep straight? like twist?

My deavers twist a bit through the travel. Just saying you can get a weird torsional binding as parts on the slider wear out.

But you can make your slider follow the angle of a shackle so you get vertical travel. I think it is cool because it is different

yea, I could see that with the binding. but if I sleeve the slider block with a metal bushing so the spring sleeve/bushing wont get pinched whentightened up, would allow some spring twist? and making new umhw blocks is really easy since I have the machining equipment. and umhw is some slippery strong stuff. I think more and more im going to do it. and yes its not your normal everyday setup that's for sure

I think having a slider will make shock tuning a bitch...or is that just me..

Plus guys bend shackles all the time. Id think the slider would just break all the time. And you'd have another freaking bushing to constantly monitor.

I wouldnt do it on a lt rig. Crawler sure.

why tho? I think it would be easier? the end of the spring wont be swinging and loading/unloading when a shackle swings past its center?

I don't think you'd need to allow for spring torsion in your slider. It will just twist below and down by your axle. It seems like you have a good start to it.

now were cookin with gasoline! lol I think the arc really plays in the affect of how torque makesyour suspension either squat... inverted shackle design, or top out... conventional. soo with that would say flipping that arc around simulate an inverted shackle type setup? also, would just a straight line parallel to the frame be a sufficient middle ground? I could see an axle wrap issue possibly( ive been thinking about adding a traction bar too to mainly be a driveline skid lol, but that could help with the possible issue
