Lot's of LA LA land folks are going for Colorado/ Canyon; the fastest growing market for the twins. Bodes well for further success as, So. Cal is where trends start. Like all the Taco excitement years ago.

Chevy currently has more JD Power wins for quality than Toyota. Silverado tops in the class for full size trucks.

I agree the 4.3 was so overrated of a engine.

Working for Chevrolet right now and Toyota prior, I can tell you that the Toyota line of cars far surpasses Chevrolet Products when it comes to reliability. Chevrolet cars and trucks are much nicer then they used to be, however being a Toyota owner they will always win over the Colorado.

JD power is not even looked Maybe Chevy sends them money under the table. So Cal? No thanks!
Lifetime Chevy. Quite sure I have spent at least 3 times more than you on Chevy's I know them well.
That is why I bought another Taco traded in my 2011 with out a test drive on the new Colorado. I do have a 2006 Colorado.

It's funny, tell a GM fan that JD Power is bought off and they flip their lid. GM is also notorious for setting up information sites to feed their press releases through so they can get the best spin. Again, try telling that to a fan of theirs and they flip out.

I agree the fit and finish and interior materials along with the electronics are all better on the Toyota! My 2011 TRD engine and tranny were flawless
for 78k. So was the truck a little weak on brake but the 2016 is better just getting broke in. Colorado is brand new truck and will not stand up as well. IMO

Be careful out here on the snow, many gen2 guys are reporting the ABS is scary. One of your fellow gen 2 Taco guys states: "Wait till the snow falls, come ride with me, you'll shit your pants"

Its the driver. I been in a Tacoma since Dec 2004. You seem to hate Colorados/Canyons in your first post and now your riding Chevys fart box, make up your mind dummy. You're obviously a troll

Leave the trolls alone. I was trolled on a Colorado post for over 3 days by one butthurt guy who swore GM was better in quality, OR ability, and durability even when all I said was that the Colorado's locker wasn't perfect for everyone's Offroading. Eventually all he could resort to was name calling. Way to many personal vendettas allowed to go on here now.

Probably posted already... In December's Consumer Reports, "20 Least Reliable New Cars", Chevy Colorado is at #8: Top problem areas: in-car electronics, climate system and transmission.

I've read about the first 2 on the Colorado forum, but transmission too?

    No Toyotas on this list.

Do you think by climate system they mean the puddles on the floor? That has been a common, and very weird, complaint among a few owners.

That problem is caused by the rubber seals around the doors. The problem's I've read about from owners on the Colorado forum is the heating and cooling system operated through the infotainment screen locks up and needs a visit to the dealer to flash it or whatever the dealer does to unlock it.

The puddles on the floor are attempts at a self cleaning car. :D

We got into a Colorado in Lethbridge and it smelt like mold when we were looking. The dealer swore it had never had water in it but I knew immediately what it was by the lines on the carpets. Instead of fixing the issue it looked like the dealer was just shampooing the mats until it could be fixed .

If it's weather stripping it should be a quick fix, no? I had heard it also had to do with water getting in through the HVAC intake somehow.

The puddles on the floor was an issue on some cars in the 60's.. hard to believe it's an issue on a 2015 vehicle. I saw a video posted by an owner where the water pools around the driver door seals and when he opens the door, water comes gushing out, in addition to the puddles on the driver's side floor. I was hanging out on the Colorado forum on occasion out of curiosity and no real interest in purchasing anything made by GM. I have zero trust in owning a reliable GM vehicle for the long term. It's a nice enough truck and no worse than the new Tacoma as far as the interior of the cabin. I saw the '16 Limited today for the first time and was underwhelmed.. It'll do but nothing I'm going to get excited about. The lack of power driver's seat may in the end be a deal breaker if my wife says she sits too low and doesn't like it. :(

    1. JD Power is a joke, as previously stated many notoriously unreliable vehicles have won JD Power awards.

    2. I'll be damned if I ever make a decision based on what Southern Californians do. That has to be a joke. If I want a fashion statement maybe, not if I want a good pickup.

If you engage the ABS in the snow you're driving like an idiot.

ABS is fine with me, but I rarely ever get to the point where it engages.
