So, I think - after having my 09 access cab for 6 months, lifting it and putting tires on it, and doing a satoshi - I'm going to sell it... My wife asked me the other day... why did you get a truck and lift it if this is all you're going to do with it. If we're going to go wheeling - lets go all out.

    Yes - I have a special wife!

So looks like I have someone to take over my lease, and pay for the acc's and mods... so I can sell the truck at with 8,000km and be break even - even with the modifications.

    and I think i'll get a 1st gen - maybe 04 double cab trd - and GO NUTS :D

now - back to the drawing board!

    Dude.....Keep the truck.

Buy a 'beater' truck as a separate vehicle. Build it and wheel it.

But keep the 2nd gen as your dependable non-wheeling reliable transportation.

Soooooo......... Whats your question? I know some people have gone from 2005+ to a 03 or 04 and have been happy, but damn. After all you have done to you 2009...... Your going to lose a crap load of cash if you trade now.

So your saying you can make all the money you paid for it including mods back? If so, go for it, only if you are going all out on the first gen though. uhh long travel fuel cell caged, etc etc :D

Yup - I'll actually be up about $300

Long travel, exo cage, custom bumper, winch, etc, etc, etc

Anything I can think of will eventually be done

Yeh i thought about that once too. The first gens hold up a lot better than these new ones.

Weathertechs, personally fabricated tailgate lock, tint, extra D rings, Exactfit seatcovers, re-enforcing the tailgate and adding a leaf next week.
I keep reading that here. I had a '96. My new one seems pretty comparable. Some things I liked better on my '96, some I like better on my new one. As far as holding up, isn't it too soon to tell? The '05s are only five years old. Are a lot of folks already having that much trouble with the 2nd gens? If so, what's wrong?
