Is the only way to get them on the off-road version?

I think on the last gen the came with the lower end models, but now it seems only the off-road has them. Too bad, I like the way they look...

Only with off road. I used to despise them. I have come around. Still think it looks like an afterthought. But I would be willing to give up painted flares for crawl control and locker on the off road.

If I end up with a double cab long bed off road instead of sport I may paint them, or I may not. I don't off road often enough to worry about scratches. Scratches on painted plastic flares don't bother me so much, but on metal is a different story. now we are talking possible rust.

I think with all the curves and lines on the new one they look really good. I really like them on the 2nd gen and it was just a a bonus that they came on the cheaper ones...

I've really been tossing and turning over this. For me paint is nice, stickers, decals, emblems, vinyl wraps, and unpainted parts have always seemed cheap. Why cover a really nice paint job with super cheap plastic stuff?

I get it with the offroad and that it is rugged and takes a beating, but I prefer a shiny paint job.

I may buy a factory painted set and take my Offroad black ones off, jury still out until I get the cost to do this.

I just purchased a SR5 DC 4x4. Really wish that black fenders were available, especially since I got the quicksand DC model. The Black and Tan would look sharp. Any idea where to get the original equipment black fenders that are on the OR?

I really like them especially in the Inferno and Blazing Blue colors. I think it breaks up the color nicely and looks rugged. People will complain about fading but if you take care of them and treat them every few washes they won't fade. I originally was going to order a TRD Sport in Inferno with the painted fenders but liked the features and the look of the Off Road more.

Easy way to get that look is to plastidip them. Would take all of 2-3 cans to get good coverage and you'll achieve the same look as the Off Road models

I have the offroad in superwhite so I personally like the Storm Trooper contrast.

Second gen here but, took my flares off.... Had them sprayed with full metal jacket bedliner. Tough as nails, looks great.

I would be willing to trade my black OR fenders for a set of black painted ones, or buy them from anyone willing to part with a set. I seriously doubt Toyota will sell painted fender flares from the factory.

Is the FMJ bedliner rated for plastic applications?

Interesting. Now I just have to find someone in Northern AZ that deals FMJ and talk to them about it.

Going to ask my local body shop if they can get painted fenders or the cost to paint my future OR ones. I will post the results soon.

I got the SR. Definitely going to try to add the plastic fenders from an OR when they become available or someone wants to sell their set?!?
