FWIW, 265/75/16 isn't that much smaller in diameter and has a much larger selection for the SUV market. Available in P and LT with a variety of load ranges, tread patterns, and sidewalls.

The 315/75R16 would be great in sand and being nearly 35" tall gives great roll-over for large obstacles. But you need to cut fenders and flares, pound pinch welds flat, do a cab mount chop, etc. A big mod for one more inch of ground clearance over 255/85. To each his own.

315s are worth it to me, 255/85s are just real small when actually on the truck being compared to 315s. And mine were way cheaper than my 255s.. annnnd I don't really care about chopping my pile up

Pretty sure that's the whole point. They're supposed to be smaller. I haven't had to modify my wheel wells at all, just took my mud flaps off.

I think a lot of people care about not chopping our nice trucks up.

:stayontopic: This is not a wide tire thread.

I have 265's on my truck which I think are 31.8 or close, and wanted a larger diameter like the 255's I believe are 33.2 (I could be wrong). To me, the 265's are a little too small for my liking. The skinny look has grown on me. This pic shows how small 265's look.

*please correct me if I'm wrong on tire sizes.

That's not even an argument over skinny/wide... That's comparing a 35" tire to a 33" tire, of course one if going to be better offroad

Dick Cepek just came out with their new 'Extreme Country' tires in this size at a decent price. I was waiting on KM2's but they have been backordered so I think I'm going to switch to the Cepeks

I noticed that the Cepeks are 2 ply. I wonder about their sidewall durability.

Well, define "offroad", because there's definitely a debate for skinny in situations.

I was wondering too... A plus is it makes them pretty light and they would flex more giving a good ride. But, yeah, strength would be a question. They call it a "next generation high tensile body ply cord" so maybe the technology makes up for the extra ply while reducing weight? I think I'll risk it

The specs that Jegs has published show 58lbs each

Well I think I might be that person. I'm sick of this never ending backorder on the KM2's

I think Cooper Tires manufactures Dick Cepek. If so, the sizing specs may be the same as the S/T Maxx.

Yeah, sounds like it's heavier than the ST maxx... Weird
