I had my truck Krowned today for the first time in Mechanicsburg,PA. I was curious if anyone here has been doing the Krown treatment for years and how their frames look....especially in the SALT states or Canada . I've heard good things about Krown but don't think I've seen any pics of how they look after 7 or 8 years of Krown treatment...especially where Brine and salt are used heavily.

Id be curious to see the same thing.

Did you have the doors drilled? I found I had some oily windows for a couple weeks.

Yep had the doors drilled....they covered the holes with rubber grommets....looks factory. I will be parking on the street for a few days....first thing they told me about when I brought it in was that it would drip. When they brought the truck out you could see it dripping off...but it looks damn good. Also read on here about the oily windows.....will be well worth it if the frame/doors/rockers and everything else holds up for as long as I have it. I would still be interested in seeing some pics of Krown sprayed vehicles over 7 or 8 years old though..... I've seen 2005/2006 Tacomas without rust inhibitor and it ain't pretty--- new frames on those vehicles here in Pennsylvania every time.

Make sure the application person sprays all your rubber parts - door seals etc. with silicone. If not, the product will cause swelling. I used Krown at first, but have since switched to Corrosion Free as it will not damage the rubber parts.

I call snake oil on this. Does anyone have any measurable results of a krown vs non-krown treated vehicle?

I'd be very interested if we could actually see some solid, provable results.

I would have done the doors yourself with fluid film and the 360 wand they sell. Your door already has plugs in it and you can get the wand in there no problem, same with rockers. How much did it cost for known treatment though, would be interested to have mine done underneath. I already did fluid film on everything this year, but for next year.

I was thinking about driving up to Mechanicsburg for the treatment. Is it still about $150 for the full coverage? I got a gallon of fluid film sitting in the garage but don't thinks I'll get around to do it this year. If I do Krown the first year and reapply fluid film every year after............will the two compounds effect each other if I don't clean off Krowns?

Any oil applied to the frame will inhibit rust. Contractors trucks in our area that have diesel fuel tanks installed in the bed never rust. They always spill and the oily fuel protects the truck. Every fall I apply chain saw bar oil to my frame and other parts with a rust proofing gun. The bar oil sticks like glue, creeps well and doesn't wash off.

Yes Krown does work but it's only as good as the person applying it.

    I call troll.

I treated my truck a few days after taking delivery in June 2012. the frame was pristine the following spring. Didn't do it in 2013 and had to paint the frame in the spring of 2014. Didn't do it again in the fall of 2014 and had to repaint again in the spring of 2015. I didn't have any blistering though.

I just had it Krown-ed a few weeks ago. I also grabbed a couple of spray cans for touch ups this winter.

I'm going to have it done every year from now on, since it only costs me a bottle of rum/mix/bag of ice and I get to drink some too!

    Before spray:

LoL I am forever the unintentional troll in this thread, I guess.

I'm just trying to justify the price tag of it.

matthews automotive in Salem,NY. My father has a small camper about 8 miles away from there that he is winterizing (sp?), so we're just going to make a day of it. I have a list of questions to ask them when im there, addressing any concerns. I just added the silicone/swelling thing. But krown is nothing new and i as well have read that it is huge in canada. The guy on the phone was also very sincere and seemed to know what he was talking about. Also, it is a beautiful drive up rt.22 in NY.
