New to this site, as I need expertise from this crowd. Built a lot of trucks, the last few as an intro:

Starting a simple build for my new (to me) 06 Double Cab 4x4 Taco. Will be used to tow the boat, mtn biking and snowboarding taxi, and fire roads/mild back country. Here's the phase I plan:

    Front:
5100 Bils (what setting for 2.5" lift?)
    OME 885 Coils (Eibach equivalent?)
    Camburg uniball UCA's
    Rear:
    Dakars
    5100 Bils
    Wheels/tires:
    4"BS SCS SR8's w/ 285/75/16 Duratrac's (maybe 315's)

I'm new to 2nd gens so any advice on the above plan would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend if ur doing UCAs is go with 887 coils and 5100 on the bottom setting. 5100 with any OME coil needs to be on the bottom setting, 887 is the same spring rate as 885 just a bit taller to get u the 3 inch lift in the front without using a spacer or loading the spring more.

Great info, exactly what I'm looking for. Is the 885/7 spring rate ideal for a dd (double cab, front bumper, no winch)? Is there an Eibach equivalent?

should be just fine for a bumper as long as its not ARB and no winch. For full steel plate bumper and winch u want 886 and top plate spacer if u want 3 inchs. if not then like 2.5. the eibach equivalent uses a spacer thats pretty thick and most say rides way rougher.

Got it, appreciate the info. Sounds like 887 on the lowest setting is the right move. I may go ARB, but 2.5" would be enough lift. I'll cut anything that gets in the way.

Does the top plate spacer go above the hat on the 5100? So you don't have to disassemble to add later if the front sags to much?

no a spacer for those would be like go on top of the whole strut assembly. the 5100 has adjustable s at the base of the coil which u wont use with OME coils.

Been doing a lot of reading on here. Will be going with 315/75/16 and 4.56's. CMC, fender trim, and probably a front bumper of some kind...pretty cookie cutter build.

Got rear ended and pushed into another car two days after picking this up, so ordered up some Pelfrey bumpers. Lift will be ordered next. Can you guys help me confirm this makes sense:

    Front:
OME 887 coils on bottom setting of 5100 bils
Light racing or Xbrand uniball UCA's

    Rear:
    Bils 5100 and Dakar leafs

Accident really only took out front/rear bumpers and small dent in the tailgate. Need to clearance fender and cab mount more. Should have Pelfrey bumpers in a month or two.

Cab mount chopped, will cut more once I get a hold of some 315's before boxing it up.
