    That's the joke. Plus Layton was a fringe politician, a great man but a fringe politician, who managed to hit his stride right before dying from Cancer. Rob Ford started out as a big deal in TO and fell off several cliffs. Soon he'll die from Cancer. I find the comparison humorous in a dark sort of way.

    Good way to see a LOT of coast and wind up in a beautiful valley with Hwy access to central BC. Hwy 20 is a really cool ride with a section dubbed "the hill" partially single lane gravel road switchback up to 18% grade with a huge drop off.

    An interesting email was resent out at work today. When Colorado legalized, my company on the operations side is based out of Colorado, we all received an email that said that the drug policy internally did not change. As most people know, when you smoke cannabis the metabolic waste products hang around in your system for up to 3 weeks. So, if you work for a company that does drug tests, you can't partake at all because if you do odds are you might have some traces still in your system that could cause a positive test. While the odds are small that the company would demand a random test and they might not even be legally allowed to in most cases the company could demand for a test if you, say, hit a bus with your truck by accident. That could lead to you losing your job, you being held liable for all damages, and all sorts of those bad things...

    On top of that Great West Life and Blue Cross have both decided that even medicinal marijuana use can void your life and disability insurance because the long term effects are unknown. They would find out via your prescription drug coverage through them. Whether or not that's legal might be debatable but I wouldn't risk smoking up and possibly face some nasty consequences for my family if I'm hurt or killed at work...

    So no matter what Trudeau says or does, unless he rewrites the law to protect people from what I mentioned above, legal weed is not going to be enjoyed by most Canadians without possibly causing them a pile of issues they didn't expect.

    Yup, never mind Google//Apple privacy issues, or government regulations, its the Insurance Companies who write policies that effectively bypass a democratic process, creating rules for your life in the name of 'liability protection' we should be angry about. Not a fan when company Safety policies focus on protecting company liability as a priority, rather than rewarding actions that place a priority on worker safety.

    What choice do they have though when current drug testing methods can't put a level of intoxication or timeline for usage on THC? I mean, if you killed a bus load of kids by hitting them with a fertilizer truck and the RCMP found out you had a detectable amount of metabolic THC wastes in your system then, if the company doesn't have such policies, they would technically be liable for millions of dollars in damages.

    I'm just scared for the ignorant out there who won't understand these things. I have a buddy who smokes a lot of pot and works for a telecom company (the two are not related but I'm sure the telecom has drug testing) who writes daily now about how awesome it will be when he buys his first bag of pot from a 7/11 instead of the street corner. I just hope he doesn't figure out the hard way that the bag of pot he buys might leave him penniless for life if he ever gets hurt or hurts someone else at work.

    When it's legal everyone will have access to it. One off and occasional usage might increase. I hope people get informed of what that could mean to them if something goes wrong at work.
