I'm in nj and people wouldn't care about the ion or driver.

They would be pissed he caused more traffic.

I'm currious about what happened to cause the damage the way it is in the pic......the bumper and grill look fine other than the minor misplacement...how did the hood end up getting ruined if the front doesnt even have a crack....also im assuming that the only way damage at the drivers door could have been done is if the panel moved in the crash and then when the driver opened the door , it bent the panel.

edit: i now see the missing piece on the front bumper, i guess thats wher ethe damage was

The bumper and grill are smashed. It rear ended a truck. The frame is bent and pushed the whole nose back

Interesting way to reduce the size of the front grill.

Am I the only one that would attempt to purchase it and restore it? I'm thinking get the frame pulled and have a body shop fix the rest? :notsure:

I've never given insurance information before a test drive... Maybe it varies by state. The dealership carries insurance for their inventory so maybe that covers it

I know here in Texas, everytime I wanted to test drive, it was mandatory for DL and Insurance up front...you might be right about varying

I work in insurance and the dealers have umbrella policies that protect any vehicle for sale on their lot as well as any vehicle that they are in possession to perform maintenance on. It's not cheap. A hail storm a few years back caused a few massive claims.

in most states it's the dealership's insurance that covers the vehicles. usually at really high deductibles too

In CA all thats required is a DL. If someone crashed a car they were test driving and the dealer tried to claim it without showing that the driver had a DL they won't pay out on it.

    The better coast
In California I've never been asked for my insurance. Just dl.

After they get the truck fixed up they probably come to your insurance for their costs. Or to you directly and you file through your insurance. That's just a guess though.

All the test drives I've been on they have kept my dl. So I'm driving without my license.

But yes, always keep a safe following distance. I've had some close calls when people decide to merge into my stopping distance because "there was enough room for my car"

I've repaired MUCH worse. That damage is cake. Most likely the front aluminum frame ends took the majority of damage like they're designed to and frame is not affected. I repaired a Lexus GX470 with gnarly front right end damage and the frame was still in perfect alignment within factory specs.

This truck will be fixed and sold. Local guys should keep an eye out and update.

That's pretty cool. Do you know what happened exactly that the guy that was test driving it wrecked it?

No I didn't get into that much detail. I was to busy trying to find out why my truck is two weeks behind when they said I'd get it.
