Plastidip isnt like paint, you can't tape it off and then spray it and be done. Only way to really use tape with dip is to tape, spray, remove tape, tape again then spray again ect.

There are times where I've applied 5+coats and after the final coat I immediately peeled the tape and the line was perfect. On another occasion I waited close to thirty minutes after applying the final coat and it peeled just as well. Some stupid comments in this thread for sure.

Ummm how about no. Spray then tape spray then tape , if this had to be done with plastidip no one would waste their time applying it.

You tape once and spray to your hearts content, then peel. Its time tested.

Guess it depends on the lines you're taping because ive done exactly what you just said and the tape peeled the dip right off. Thats when I figured out I can tape, spray, untape, retape, respray and get my desired out come.

If you just spray once sure. But if you do multiple coats the dip peels off with the tape.

Well, I just taped it up and sprayed about 5 coats consecutively on top of one another without taking any breaks. Once I got to the other side of the tail gate, I went back to the beginning and immediately applied another coat in the same fashion from a slightly different angle. I watched some of the Plasti Dip manufacturers videos on how they do it and it went perfect. After all 5 coats were applied (about 2 minutes in total), I immediately removed the tape and there were ZERO issues. On the manufacturers videos, they specifically say not to wait and not to re-tape any lines. Obviously, you all have had varying success with different methods so I say good on ya. I really appreciate all of your input here. Its the first help thread I've done and I definitely got the best from you guys. See you on the next one… I'm sure Ill screw up plenty soon!

    As said by @magneticwhite88.
Pretty much all paints, re-activate the previous coats.
I forgot a strip of tape, painting my air compressor tank.
The next day, I applied an even thick coat, only on the edge of the tape, waited 2 or 3 minutes, gently pulled the tape off and the line was impeccable !

    * For those of you, who work with portable compressors, and have shitty humid and freezing winters.
8 coats of plastidip on the tank seems to slow the condensation process enormously.
I've noticed less accumulation, in the same time period I usually drain the tank in(no I don't do it each time I use it, as suggested by the manufacturer).
When working outside in -15° to - 25°c(not sure how it translates into Ferenheight).
I had to leave the compressor in outside temperature over night, for it to work the next morning.
Hot, cold, hot, cold, condensation, freezing, kicking things everywhere !

But this lets me take it inside at the end of the day, drain it a few hours later( say by the time I'm due smoking outside).
And the next day, in snot freezing temps. it works like a charm !

Sorry to OP for using space, I figured you fixed your concern, why not !
