What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Functional maybe but ugly as hell and ptobably catches wind

 

Just did the first oil change on my truck. Mobil 1 + OEM filter.

Finding and getting to the filter was a PITA, and I needed a new drain plug gasket, since it was eroded and not a full ring after I took it off. All things considered, not so bad.

 

I know lotsoftoys (AKA Jace) never relocated his and he wheels the shit out of this taco. He hasn't hit it from what I know of. But if it's an eye sore for ya there is a reservoir you can get off Amazon. I'll be relocating mine with it if cash permits.

Jace is a total web wheeler...

My tire was eating mine, it had to go. And no need to buy that when you can reuse the stock pump and some random bottle and do it for free.

Took her into some mud for the first time..... Had to recover a suburban that was stuck in 2 feet deep of mud

 

Oh yeah then there this guy that does 1000+ miles offroad a year with 295's on. He'll have some pointers.

 

I was rubbing the reservoir on 255s. The 295s would have destroyed it.

Thanks. It's my 16 year olds truck. We finished her up about two months ago. Still doing small things but the big stuff is complete.

Wow man that is insanely clean! What is the silver thing in front of the throtte body between the two blue hoses is that some sort of catch can?

 

Yes it's an oil water separator from harbor freight. $5.99 or $6.99 can't remember. My valve cover has two breathers that go into the intake plenum. The rear one is the pvc the front one is just a breather. I put it on the front one thinking it would catch oil vapors residue but it was empty after a few weeks. . I switched it to the pvc and got oil in a couple of days.

 

Battery took a shit. Its 8 years old so can't complain. Just..why right before work?

 

Ok.. wasn't sure if it did anything with the front one. As you saw mine is connected to the rear one (pcv) and it catches oil.

 

Pretty much the same mod that I found on other sites, your write up is more detailed.

 

It only went because you have work. That's how it goes.
