Excuse my ignorance but at what point is it approved to be built? How long should I give the dealer before I ask about a VIN?

Not sure to be honest, when I put my deposit down we were able to find an already allocated truck that matched what I wanted.

Should be a temporary vin before being built, and transfer to a permanent after it is built. I had my temp vin when I ordered it. You also have a finite amount of time to make changes in the system before being built. Once the assigned build hits a certain point, you can't make changes, as I recently found out. Tried to change colors, but was to late in the process to do so. Truck is not being built for 3 weeks, but can't change it now.

I've read that I ordered the most difficult-to-get configuration out there. I ordered with the FP package (Premium and Tech with JBL) and TO (I think that's the code for the tow package). I've heard the addition of the JBL makes it an even rarer beast.

Bottom line, if i placed my order and deposit 10/6, is it reasonable that I should expect to have a temporary VIN and expected build date? Maybe it'll be a 2017 model by the time I get it!

I put my deposit down 9/21 and wasn't able to get the temp vin or basic build sheet from the dealer for about three weeks,my salesman didn't even know about looking on dealerdaily website to track it.It was supposed to be built 10/31,then that changed to 11/4,and now its been postponed again. So I feel your pain,Haha!

Yeah good luck with that one, i don't think you're getting jerked around. The dealer probably just hasn't gotten its hand on a allocated truck with that build. Sorry man. It does suck that they took your money and didn't even have one in sight.

Same configuration I ordered. I was told 16 to 18 weeks. It'll be worth the wait.

    Chris,
I know you just checked mine the other day, but I was told by the dealer today that it wouldn't be here until the 20th and it has been in the rail yard less than 100 miles away since the 24th. That can't be reasonable, can it?!

    Thank you
    Joe

I've been trying to wait patiently, but I can't hold off any longer. Thanks in advance for the information Chris, and thanks for the info from the PM.
