man, that is going to cost way more than 1,000 to fix. trust me i had someone back into my rear bumper and put a dint about half that size and state farm gave me a check for 1,200 that was after my 200 deductable. you have damage to the front quarter panel as well. you are going to have to replace your front bumper, most likely your quarter pannel as well. i would guess to repair something like that including painting, parts and labor is going to cost 2,500 to 2,700.
hell, i have a front bumper on order at cbi offroad, the rut is on, i am going to start driving around like a wild ass at night, maybe i can hit one. that would pay for my bumper.

    Old Soul,

There's no doubt that it's solid, high-quality construction. See the "show off your Avid off-road" posts. The question is how much coverage does it offer. I bought it because I really wanted some front bumper protection for the urban environment. However, I live in a deer-infested area so it serves a dual purpose.

The problem is there isn't a product on the market that offers full-width front bumper protection, radiator and headlamp protection. I could have asked Brandon to fabricate one for me, but I went the simple route, and he was offering an approx. $80 off special.

    Thanks. :)

It was something like $1,350.00 (with shipping). I had it powdercoated for that price and now that I've had my first accident with it (Subaru) it is now rattlecanned Rustolium bedliner. If I did it again, I would probably bail on the powder coating and save $90.

This thing is certainly heavy (especially now with it's winch). I like the All Pro too. I don't know how it holds up to road damage but I know how the Shrockworks handles Subarus coming at you! My truck suffered minimal damage while the Subu wasn't so lucky.

well thats good to know. thats the main thing i would shop around for when determining which bumper has the most durability & can withstand the most damage if it ever happens. if i do get a front bumper, im definetly gonna get a winch. has it affected yur gas mileage at all with all the weight?

That sucks man. Hope you get good service from Cherokee Toyota. Couple of the guys in the service dept. were dicks the few times I've been in there.

Gotta watch out for those deer. Especially from now through the end of November. The bucks are startin to run the does, so they're going to be out everywhere. And the does aren't ready yet, so they're gonna be runnin from em.

I drove back and forth from Blue Ridge to Kennesaw State every week for 4 years, and I saw a LOT of deer. Saw one lady hit one like 3 cars in front of me. Not a pretty sight. Glad you're OK and good luck with the truck.

What's gas mileage? :D I really don't know - I've never checked. My gf gives me a hard time for not knowing how much I pay for gas. I just go to Chevron and fill 'er up. (I will say that it's the slowest in my 'fleet' and the worst in mileage.)

they actually aren't fog light covers. I used Krylon stained-glass window paint and sprayed two light coats. Cost me bout $8. I really can't tell the difference in light output at night other than its a different color.

During the rut (mating season), the deer, especially bucks, become very STUPID, very much like people:p, and do very unpredictable things.

"Look, a moving vehicle with pretty headlights... Lets jump infront of it...:D!

When I see them on the side of the road, I just figure they will jump infront of me:eek:. When the deer are on BOTH sides of the road, they will try to herd up, crossing the road.

    Got Venison:D?

just dropped it off at Cherokee County Toyota Collision center. About $2500 in damage, now I just have to drill it into the guys head to order the color matched grille instead of the chrome one. He said they should have it done by friday.

Now I feel like an old man. I'm driving a mercury grand marquis rental car. Lol the thing is longer than my truck. It won't fit in my garage.

I also hit a deer in my 2004 first gen. I was going about 55mph on a back road and never even saw him (didn't slow down). It was a little guy but the BANG was sooo loud that I thought my truck would be totaled. Flung him into the air and off to the side.

Got out and saw almost the exact same damage you have - VERY LITTLE! Insurance gave me $500 but I never fixed it. Dealer didn't even notice it when I traded it on my 2009.

Looking at the damage to these 2nd gen's, I don't look forward to hitting one in my new truck - unfortunately, it's almost certain in PA.

    Those 1st gen's are TOUGH!

    Update:

Body shop called. Apparently the impact broke one of the brackets on the drivers side headlight too. Looks like I will be doing the BHLM all over again. He was able to order the color matched grille for the same price so I will be getting a color matched grille instead of chrome. YAY!

Needed new bumper cover, headlights, grille, pssg fender, and a few random brackets. He said the parts go in the paint booth in the morning and I should be able to pick it up on thursday.
I cant wait to get out of this rental car it's a pile of crap. I dont think Ford has changed their interior parts in 15 years.

Heres my run in with a stupid ass deer doing 40+ it was about 1200 in damage, needed new headlights, bumper reshapened, grille realigned (real bad job) a new fog light bulb, new bumper grille cause i had a spot light jammed into it and bumper mounts replacing and fender locks replaced which they did not fix completely, and i got a nice scratch on my grille surround from the body shop...thanks

needless to say, my truck was never the same after that, but its all gonna be fixed real soon cause my truck is going to get the body overhauled, new hood, rear bumper/bed panel resprayed, fender and door resprayed, fender locks replaced etc

For those in GA; per the GA DNR, the month of October is the #1 deer hit month, almost double Sept, Nov, and Dec hits. I managed to hit a doe in August, but luckily only ripped off the front bumper cover, front quarter section of the fender flare, inner fender liner due to tire contact. Noticed that right headlamp was a touch low, so thought core support was damaged, but only hit lamp hard enough to break lower tab. Truck looks good as new (except hail damage on hood which I decided not to fix yet, but will later). So all the parts were bolt ons; no filler nor paint needed on any factory piece, no straightening of any sheetmetal. Doe drug under truck for a bit and came out out hard enough to cause r/rear bumpstop to make contact with frame, the left was still covered with the dust film left from rain weeks earlier. No brake lines, park brake cables, or exhaust hangers were damaged. Backed into someones' driveway and dragged the doe off the road by a hind leg while all the fleas abandoned ship towards me. Sparse traffic on this particular road, but one lady in a BMW did stop and ask if I "killed" the deer, I said yes, she said nothing else and promptly drove away:confused: Bungee cords through the fog lamp blank hole, and one through the fender liner vent slots to fold the front 1/3rd over itself got me to where I was going, the local Scag dealer, 30 seconds before they locked the door. Did I mention that since it was August; that it was very hot and humid, and the doe's blood off the parts I tied off was already stinking on my hands.

This happened about two hours ago. HUGE buck at about 40mph. Solid hit.
Destroyed the deer, two sizeable chunks and a spare leg up against the guard rail. Head, neck, and what may have been legs about 50 ft away. My poor Taco only had 5,000 miles on it, and I was supposed to get the spring TSB tomorrow.
