Nice! What did you go with? What are you thinking of replacing the tent with?

 

Dude they're located in Boulder or something just go pick it up! But yeah they are a bit steep brand new. I don't regret it though. It's served its purpose really well.


Also a big WTF on the lens? What'd you get? I think I'm gonna try pick one up around Christmas time.

 

Everyone is different. My dad never even uses his anymore..will either fit or wont. I know id hate it.

 

That would require me to drive into and through Colorado. I barely survive their drivers on the way to Fort Collins! Well, when I posted that I was ready to checkout but apparently I can't order from B&H until tomorrow . Anyways, I was looking at this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1165362-REG/hasselblad_1201670_vario_tessar_t_e_16_70mm.html . I am putting my other lenses on ebay EXCEPT for the 50mm I have. I love that thing.

I thought I would hate it but over the summer our work truck had a shell and I loved that thing. Crawling to the back sucked but that's about it.

 

Haha good point. Luckily my commute isn't too bad so I don't have to deal with them too often

That'd be a perfect do-all lens though. I'd really like to pick up a 50mm as well.

 

Do both Man! You have a garage now so you have a place to keep it during the summer months when the RTT is on.

 

I went with a leer 100r. Carpet was free this month and i got opening side doors cuz screw crawling to the back to get something.

What do you mean will fit or wont? What would you hate about it? Yes, everyone is different and use their trucks slightly differently even though we all wheel our trucks similarly.

Yea similar story for me, why i knew i needed opening side windows.

 

Yep, thats why I want it. Pricey, but a solid zoom lens and thats hard to find for us e-mount losers haha. I really do love my primes though .

Yeah, its really nice. Supposedly there are quite a few with defects but its quick to get them replaced for a good one.

That one is rebranded so its cheaper than the original Zeiss at 1k. I have eyeballed that lens for ever but was never sure if spending more on the lens than the camera body would be worth it.

 

I don't think I could give up my RTT. Can't see going back to a ground tent and sleeping inside the canopy comes with too damn many compromises.

 

I hear ya, we'll see what happens! The tent is still on the rack and at my house, lol its not gone yet...

 

I hate climbing in and out. fuck that.

Some people don't mine the topper life.

I for one hate packing and unpacking it just to sleep in it. Id hate your short bed too to sleep in..

Also not a fan of the sliding doors. The pop up ones are the only actual useful ones. Sliding ones only give access to half the cab bed. And you can't really half use them since they are so small anyways to get shit in and out.

It is truly dry though which is nice. But not worth it for me. Dogs are tough. Nice bed and they are good. Never had an issue hunting in Nov anyways..

Not a huge topper fan really..but like i said. can be useful. I just think a more open bed tends to be more useful in more situations than the topper.

Definitely do not get rid of the RTT until at least next summer..

 

Yea that's why I got the side windows that flip up completely.

We'll see how it goes, the shortbed is short to sleep in for sure but not with the tailgate down. May build a platform with storage underneath too.

yea untill you take it offroad or on the highway and want to kill yourself due to wind drag and almost actually kill yourself going off camber and drag the tent across every tree branch in the forest.

 

Then I'll just close it and not be able to stretch my legs out, which is how I sleep anyways. Already tested the space out and its fine.

 

RTTs that on on top of a canopy are just pain ugly IMO.

Yea mine would never go on top. That's crazy wind resistance and too tippy and high for reasons Monte mentioned. And yes I'd agree Mike kind of fugly

I think it looks ok as long as there are boxes and other things above the cab. If its just the tent then it looks horrible. Yeah its not the best for wheeling but how often does Ben actually see that situation? I know I rarely find myself in those situations unless I go out of my way for it.
