98-00 have longer frame horns..3" longer to be exact.

So that doesn't make sense. However..get rid of the 2". It'll help.

 

Yeah I lost it and pulled out the cutting wheel and went to town. I made all new brackets around the back area. It works! Yeah it's to bad about the service with glassworks. That's why I didn't go that way. It's nice glass tho.

 

Oops I knew they were different in some kind of way. But anyways yea I'm gonna try to bring it in some and modify the mounting. Should look a lot cleaner after that!

 

Or maybe I'll sell it and get a relentless DIY

Seems like all of y'all with 01-04 bumpers the ends are coming away from the body. Why is that and how do you fix it? Not liking the gap

I know what you mean about the ends coming away from the body I hate that gap it bugs me. Anyone got a fix?

I did this mod quite a while ago, but I felt it deserved to be shared even though there are so some things I'd like to add/change.

I ran some 4AWG wire back along the firewall from my battery to a Blue Sea Systems bus board (I think is what's it's called). Then ran some more 4AWG from there to an in-line 50A fuse, then back into the cab through the firewall into the dash where I cut out a section for a West Marine breaker board with 6x 15A breakers. I've got another short section of 4 AWG wire coming back through the firewall from the breaker board to where I've grounded it to the body. I may try to move the ground to the frame though.

I've only got a couple things being powered off of it at the moment, but it seems to work pretty well. I do have an issue however, when I turn on my rock lights, my gas gauge slowly depletes. That leaves me scratching my head.

In the near future I'd like to try to get a 4"x6" piece of acrylic to heat and bend into shape to protect the terminals of the bus board from shorting out. Anyway, I hope this give some of you guys some ideas.

I know long shackles have always been an easy and cheap way to get some lift but from my time setting up truck drivelines, I think that the output shaft from the transmission and the pinion shaft from the diff need to be as close to parallel as possible to minimize vibrations. I've seen more than one instance where the pinion was angled up to try to minimize u-joint wear but when a u-joint runs angled it speeds up and slows down with each revolution and the opposite one on the other end of the driveshaft needs to do the same in tandem to keep that speed up/slow down from being transferred to the diff. Get an angle finder and put it on the output shaft and then on the pinion and shim the springs to bring things into alignment. Just passing on what I've learned, use at your own risk
