That's one way to fix the hinge...make it unnecessary!

Already got an appointment to replace it. Bay State Truck Caps was the cheapest place I could find to redo it. $352 installed for a new assembly with all new weather stripping, latches, keys, etc. Considering the cap was $370, I'm probably still coming out ahead since the back door was iffy to begin with.

Didn't end up getting out after birds at all today, ended up working on next year's firewood all day instead. Didn't manage to finish it all, but I got almost all of it worked up and stacked out of the way before I broke a pin on the tractor (oops).

Now we're off to Texas Road House to celebrate my getting all of that done without hurting myself, lol.

I was out this morning and late afternoon. LOTS of ticks today.

Had a dozen turkey roosted about 50 yards behind me this morning. Almost fell out of my tree stand when they flew down at 6:15. Sounded like bowling balls falling from the sky.

Put the generator and the snowblower outside for a half hour run time. Both started easily and ran great.

Did you shop around? Also, why you replacing all the hardware, it can all be swapped over. When I bought my cap, shops wanted a ridiculous price for a new latch and key, I found replacements online for 1/4 the cost, perfect fit. I replaced the entire latch and lock mechanism really cheap, took me about 20 minutes.

    Yes
Yes. The cheapest I found the glass when I was looking online was $480, maybe I didn't know exactly where to look. Even that was the whole rear door assembly, including the hinge/hardware etc. A member on here was able to source the whole rear window assembly for $299 CDN. CapWorld wanted $480+ install, so I thought $350 was very reasonable for a whole new back assembly installed, which gets me a new hinge (the reason I was even tweaking the back glass), keys (which I don't have), new weatherstripping (which I need), new rear bottom gasket (another need) and adjustment of everything to make it sure it's where it's at. Leer only sells the full assembly, including the track that is riveted to the fiberglass itself.

Makes sense. I remember Leer wanted something like $150 plus an hour install for a new handle and key, not including the latching mechanisms at either side. I found everything online much, much cheaper and replaced all the hardware for what Capworld wanted for just the handle. I have read that finding glass for the caps can be tough.

There are a couple places online that sell them but your right, not easy to come by. I kept coming up with distributors, but not sellers. I did eventually find a comany that sold the side windows for 229 a piece. Wasn't looking for rear window at the time. I'll see if i can find it again.

Yeah, CapWorld seemed outlandish. I'd figure something else out rather than pay $480+install for that. I'd have sourced a different cap and resold the damaged one before I did that.

Appreciate the offer, but at this point I've already got everything on order so that's the route I'm going.

I need to pull my snowblower out and give it some love. Didn't do any maintenance before last season and it defiantly got a ton of use. It's certainly due for a new plug and oil change at the very least

    Nice.
I picked up a few $59 ladder stands at Dick's during the Summer and put them out in some nearby archery only watershed ground . They serve their purpose.
If a thief really wants to cut a chain and lug the thing out of the woods, have at it.
I know one guy that had 2 stolen this year alone.
