I've been all over the net trying to get this info. Does anyone know the price of the Toyota OEM tonneau cover?

Or even better, who actually makes it.

    Thanks,
    - NF

It's $650 on the sticker / option list. Mine came with it. I like the functionality of it (a lot) - but I've got mixed feelings on the appearance. I can post pics if you want - especially since Toyota doesn't have it on the website.

Could you post pictures please? Also can you tell us how is the construction, if it's hard or you think it won't hold to long?

Sorry, I forgot all about it - just took some...

The second pic shows the pull-handle that can be accessed when you drop the tailgate down. That allows you to make the first fold. Then there is a second latch that allows you to make another fold. Once it is folded the second time, there is a strap that plugs into the front of the cover to secure it in place.

If you want to take the whole thing off, then you pop this plug and loosen a 12mm bolt.

The under frame is all some type of molded composite and is fairly rigid. It's definitely more like OEM quality, as opposed to typical aftermarket. The seals are nicely made, but there are so many of them, it isn't going to seal everything. In my case, I went through a car wash and only had a small amount of water inside the bed at the rear corners. I don't think it would be too likely to leak from normal rain. The latch handles work very well, but I wish the strikers were adjustable to pull it down a little tighter to the bed. As it is now, you can lift it up slightly when latched, but that might be a good thing to allow the tailgate to close without messing up the rear seal.

I'm not wild about the look of the seal strips that run across the top when it is closed, but the convenience and ease of use make up for it. I had solid Snuglids on my last two trucks - they looked better when closed, but were not as easy to use as this, plus they were a pain to remove.

My big question now is whether it can be installed by the dealership or DIY. Those pegs may be a factory-only option. Or maybe not. I've got an email in to Toyota.

You'd need to lift the plastic pieces on top of the bed and see if the threaded holes are there to attach the strikers. If so, then it should be a bolt on - but you might have to trim the plastic yourself. Unless the cover comes with new bed-top pieces.

Thought so. I'm not sure how to get the plastic pieces off without breaking them. Feeling under the plastic, I think I can feel PEM nuts for the pegs.

BUT... it also looks like the plastic is notched slightly around the pegs to clear the clamps. Trying to do that myself would look awful. Either Toyota ships replacement plastic pieces with the kit or it can't be done very well.

According to my dealer, Toyota is not selling the OEM TC yet as an accessory.

Still has to be made! I'll have her in February.
The tonneau was available as a stand alone option back in November, but dissapeared from the Build Your Own section of the Toyota website shortly after. I saw one when I picked up my 2016 last week. I think it's alright looking. Hard plastic with a nice TACOMA raised lettering along the tailgate. Wish it could fold up against the cab, though.
