i actually prefer my stock head unit over getting an aftermarket unit. i mean you can't beat a built in 6 disc changer and all that...no probs or complaints with mine so far

Love my stock 6 disk changer. Used it every day with not a single issue. No complaints here at all. Quite happy with it.

love my stock unit, hardly ever use it. i installed a ipod interface, that is all i listen to. i have never put a cd in my truck. that is the best investment you can make, it sounds better than a cd.

I liked mine it sounded decent enough for me, I changed it only because it started having issues (flickering lights) replaced it under warranty and replacement was also bad (screen went blank) so I went with aftermarket unit with stock speakers.

    None, yet.
Mine stopped working the other day. Didn't come on for two days then it came on for 1/2 hour then shut off again. I took it in to the dealer and they said that they have gotten a lot of calls about it. One guy had to wait 5 weeks to get one. They told me that Toyota just got around 1000 new ones in so hopefully I won't have to wait too long.

Oh by the way, I have the JBL radio.

I don't know that it sounds bad at low to med volume...it just has no balls at higher volume, and you lose the bass

How do you add one of these?

My original radio started messing up the first week I got my truck, my dealership replaced it though it took several months to get a radio in, back ordered.

My stock radio is fine. Anything in it's place besides a decently mounted touch screen looks odd. It doesn't "flow" with the dash like the stock headunit IMHO.

I listen to my iPod as well, but use a pos fm transmitter. Which iPod adapters are you guys using?

not to many, love it the way it is
I do the " hit the dash mod " when the radio in my 09 messes up. seems to work everytime. to the op, the 2009 models had a bad batch of radios put in them and that is what you have heard about. flickering screen, ghostly controls that work on their own, it seems to be worst in the heat

Your radio should be under warranty, take your truck in and get a new one.

Old Soul, you need to do the same as well.

My dealership swapped the radio out. I was really worried they would damage/scratch the dash, I'm really picky with this stuff. They did a great job and I could not tell they were in the dash, I guess they've had a lot of practice!

Now that I've had my radio replaced, the only issue I have is that the aux input doesn't seem to be amplified adequately, so even at max volume the stuff I listen to isn't loud enough to hear clearly over road noise. I doubt I care enough to replace it, but if my taco ever becomes my DD, then I'll be getting a new headunit for it.

Call your dealer and bitch. It "only" took my dealer about 1.5 months to get mine.
