It starts correctly now, thanks to the best dealer tech ever.
    Copying pics over now!

I gotta admit, seeing the popcorn guy kinda felt like the "old days" (in a good way!!) when there was true agony on the line, with exciting Taco updates. Remember those days? Seems like some other person's life nowadays, like it was all a bad dream!! Crazy how time changes things.......

    True story:
We had a Honda powered trash pump at work. We ran the thing non stop for 2 weeks. We got good at timing when to put gas in the tank. We wouldn't even shut it off. Someone got the gas cans mixed up and filled the tank with diesel fuel...it actually stayed running. We let it chug a long enough to get rid of some of the diesel. Topped it off with gasoline and it ran like nothing was ever the matter with it.

My humorous story of the day, at my own expense. :D Here's how much of a dumb ass I am:

Found a gas station that sells non ethanol, in an effort to get it right from day one with the new mower. Called to verify they sell non ethanol.

Drove ~20 min out to said station for precious non ethanol fuel in our mower gas can, in spite of Lowe's employee's recc' to just buy fuel stabilizer and use it with ethanol fuel, which is much easier to find these days.

When station employee asked if I'd like "regular" or "super", I was on the phone with Eric, so I was distracted. I asked him - regular or super? I have no idea why I asked him, since I was the one that'd spent the last 2 hours researching the topic and tracking down this particular station. He said regular. I swear, I thought I verified with employee that both "regular" and "super" at their station were NON ethanol. You can see where this is headed........

Drove ~20 min home, all the while wondering if "regular" was indeed non ethanol.

Called station upon arriving home and asked. Guess what?

Talked it over with Eric. We agreed that getting a bottle of fuel stabilizer was the way to go at that point. Drove to Home Depot. Tried to find the super cool guy that always helps us in terms of landscape related anything and everything, Fred. That guy rocks. Couldn't find him. Approached another guy for questions about stabilizer. He was super rude. Asked if Fred was there. Guy became even more rude.

This whole avoiding ethanol in the mower thing was becoming a true nightmare.

Got my stupid stabilizer. Went home, and found Eric googling the ethanol debate.

He'd decided that we should return the stabilizer and go back to that same gas station and get non ethanol this time.

My quest to get my new mower going today: TOTAL FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :annoyed:

Still happy though. New Honda mower :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Oh yeah, I meant to comment on this earlier!! I like this idea - rent this place out to cool people!! Although would you deal with no garage even part of the year? It's a tough one to go without. Especially if you're used to having one I imagine.

Or, you could build one in back instead of paying rent?

    :D

I run primium non ethanol in my mower. It makes a big difference. I've never usee fuek stabilizer and the only time I had a CARB issue is when my neighbors were borrowing my mower, and probably not using primium ethanol free gas. That troybilt looks exactly like my parents except my dads mower has electronic start

Have a 1996 Sears Craftyman riding mower with a 24hp Platinum Briggs engine. Still chugging on. It gets started offseason probably 4-5 times and ran up to operating temp for a few minutes. The good fuel became available around here about 6-7 7-8ish years ago I think it was. Before that,,it was fuel stabilize and a full-to-the-rim tank of gas if it set for to long. Some folks pinch the fuel line while it's running and run the carb dry,,I don't. You end up drying out the sealing gaskets and o-rings if you run it dry and you make a void for moisture, especially after a few well used seasons. This is where your fuel stabilize comes into play as well. leave 'em full of stabilized and you wont replace carbs every season. Only took me 2 carbs on a 5.5hp self propelled to learn that lesson, dammit. Still adding it to non alky fuel. If it's not broke,, don't break it!.

Well water,,love it, live it, drink it. Better than paying for it. Can't stand softened water, barf!. Crawl out of the shower and feel slicked over,,still soapy. Gear oil shower. Fortunate for a very clear surface spring and cistern. A empty out every year and a slosh of bleach on the walls of the cistern to strip it down a bit. It takes about 24 hrs to refill completely,,usable after about 6-8. About 700 gallon capacity so 1 gal of bleach splashed about is way safe(4 drops of bleach per gallon of water, makes drinkable potable water). Big spun polyester mainline filter, then a double filter gig at the drinking tap. Can go 2 yrs on the filters, and that's about the breaking point for not needing any at all.

well you should NEVER use premium in a mower because the higher octane makes it run much hotter temps then it should and the heat increases engine wear and shortens engine life but its hard to say the real world effect on how much it shortens your engines life.

In Canada Shell only guarantees that there primium is ethanol free. They are the only stations here that carry ethanol free gas. I'll take ethanol free over and engine that might run a couple of degrees hotter.

Yeah ive never seen any clear ethanol free regular. Its always premium... and most of the reason we have clear premium is for small engines and keeping them away from ethanol...

pretty much the opposite here, non ethynol is regular 87 octane and ethynol is regular 87 octane, extra is 89 octane, and premium is 93 octane

Its so weird how gas availability and types differs region to region.

When I post "good gas", I mean alky free.

Snag the next cooler heat range on your plugs keakar,,dump in the Premium,,let er rip after a good warmup. Listen to the revs and watch the exhaust plume, tune accordingly. They live and love it.
