One of the most prolific sockeye salmon runs is the Adams River run here in BC. This year was to be one of the two major runs (4 year cycle), but only 3,500 fish returned to spawn. 4 years ago this cyclic run was 148,000. Sad, and devastating change.

That's not what I said. Simply having the metabolic wastes from THC that are detected by current drug testing methods doesn't make you intoxicated. In other words, you could try a joint on a Monday and still test positive on a drug test 2 weeks later on the Friday. That could cause some issues.

Exactly. We need some standards to make things fair for our Police and the people who choose to partake.

They are stopping the car, impounding it for between 24 and 72 hours and issuing an immediate road side suspension for the same amount of time, the impaired driver is off the road - mission accomplished.

If the driver is a prick they arrest him/her and back to the station for assessment by a specially trained officer and then charges are laid.

Most likely will since it is illegal in Canada and most states.

Trudeau seems set on fulfilling his election promises. It will be legal here soon enough, perhaps too soon for the proper framework to be in place.

Legal pot is likely fairly low on their election to fo list and they've got 4 years

I'm more interested in the Paris Climate Comference next month

If they start doing this every time they assume people are high it will only be a matter of time before the practice is upturned under the charter of rights and freedoms by the supreme court. At that point our police services will be even more handicapped by legislation on drug impaired driving then they already are. There is no easy solution to controlling drug induced impairment once pot is legal at this time. Maybe there will be soon. I hope so. Otherwise the system won't be fair to cops or to the users.

Gotta keep the pot heads happy.

BTW I watched May rant a bit on the Keystone rejection on CBC. If she wants to be taken seriously she should consider ditching her iPod headphones and grainy webcam for something a little more professional. Right now she looks like a grandma who just figured out how to use the iPad.

Sorry I don't have her balls in my mouth.

In related news, we are never going to export processed fuel. It's not the way the international system is setup. To try to do so would simply push nations to other sources of crude oil and ruin what export industry we have. Yes, getting domestic processing should be geared towards self supply and that should mean more refineries. However, to create a system where a significant amount of oil leaving Canada as processed product in the near future is not feasible.

I only went there after your "cool story bro" comment. You're right though, I shouldn't of thrown gasoline on your fire. Let's start over. I wasn't offended or trying to debate about what she said. Lots of Canadians share her views and that's fine. Like I said, I don't find her viewpoint feasible, but since when has feasibility meant anything to politicians or popular opinion? I just found it odd that a professional politician would do an interview from her iPad with her iPod earphones in. It gave me a chuckle. I mean if you're out in the middle of nowhere I can understand using the iPad, even though the quality was far worse than what you'd expect from something like that so maybe she was using an old laptop webcam or something, but to leave your headphones in while you do the interview looked a bit odd.

I said a bit of a rant. She goes pretty hard on the point about processing our own oil for export. Comment, minor rant, one off crusade, future election promise... call it what you will.

Even if we processed all of our own oil we'd need need pipelines to ship it. Those pipelines would have to lead to areas near population centers. I'm guessing those pipelines would be near impossible to get approval for as well from a government that is going to make the environment a large part of it's campaign strategy.
