2005 Taco will not start just clicks

Need help Please Disconnected the battery and now it just clicks? Does something have to be reset? Did I burn up something, it acts like a dead battery but it shows that its charged? Every thing else works great, I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP GUYS!!!

Did you reconnect the battery? I'm assuming that you did!

Sounds like a bad connection. Try to wiggle the cables and, if it works, you need to remove the cables, clean the terminals, and then put it back together.

Does it have some kind of aftermarket alarm system?

 

Disconnect the battery again, clean all the connections & terminals. Reconnect & tighten connections.

 

I agree. Get under the truck with a hammer and tap the starter a few times and try it again.

Edit: you might think thats a little crazy, but try it. It depends on what the problem is, but this will temporaraly fix a starter that won't engage however, you will likely need a new starter.

 

You guys are great, I'll start today with your idea's on the fix.

 

I had starter problems a few years ago and had to do that a few times while the new starter was in the mail, pretty embarrassing. It does sound like it could be the problem your having.
