It would certainly be more realistic for BC :p.

Wouldn't refining our own Alberta oil for domestic use be easier than trying to plow through pipelines that are unlikely to get built any time soon ?

Depends where the refineries are I guess but likely truck or rail or pipeline

    like energy east?
getting an oil tanker from Alberta to refineries in Eastern Canada could prove to be difficult.

Building refinery capacity in Alberta or on existing pipeline routes wouldn't work ? Gasoline , Jet fuel and Diesel are all distributed throughout Canada already with existing infrastructure

    Canada east, right?

I think the Liberals even mentioned it when they released a statement concerning the Keystone decision. It's hard to argue that Canada shouldn't try to fulfill 100% of domestic supply.

Via truck. Shipping fuel short distance, intraprovince, by truck is the norm. Long distance shipping isn't feasible.

Sure. To be honest, like I've said in the past, I don't know enough about the lumber industry to comment on that though.

When the Officer pulls over the car if he smells a strong smell of weed or in interacting with the driver he /she feels they are in some way impaired the process starts.

In BC an officer can issue an immeadiate road side suspension and vehicle impoundment for impaired driving (which includes drugs and alcohol) without arrest or going to court, your vehicle is towed on the spot.

The program has, and continues to be, very successful in reducing the number of deaths and injuries caused by impaired driving in BC, there is now talk of expanding it to cell phone use while driving which is starting to overtake impairment as a leading cause of accidents and injuries on BC roads.

I am not 100% sure on the process, because I have never been suspended, but I believe you can dispute the Road Side Suspension by going back to the Station for a more in-depth test that will lead to Criminal Charges being laid if you fail, most folks don't challenge the Road Side for this reason unless they are damn sure they are not impaired.

A friend of mine has an Impound Lot that is full of vehicles that are impounded for driving while impaired by drugs, the lot ussually fills up on the weekend and then empties out through the week as folks come and pick their cars up.

I'm fairly sure it's shipped via rail to distribution from refinery and then trucked. Unless it's intrapovincial in which case it's trucked if the distance is short enough. That's how Diesel is shipped in our company.

Sounds like guilty until proven innocent. Has anyone brought that up in court yet? In Alberta you can lose your job over the 24 hours suspension for drugs and alcohol. If that happened to me and I was not impaired I'd fight it as far as I could.

Pipelines , ships , rail and trucks

Not sure why any of that would need to change if we were refining our own oil

If you know you are not impaired you can go back to the Station for in-depth testing and then walk with no record, no road side suspension, and a good story to tell.

Yes, it has been challenged, the Government tweaked it as directed by the courts, and it is still in force, the courts did say that they recognized that the Government was trying to combat a serious problem in BC by enacting this legislation.

The morale of the story is - Don't drive in BC while impaired, take a Cab, the Bus, or use a Designated Driver.

Well, when a provincial refinery goes down pumps have run dry here before. I'd suggest the shipping end is not as simple as you think.

The owner of Black Press wanted to build a refinery in BC somewhere did he not?
