Buffalo River and Rush, AR – Poser Pictures

Took a little day trip down to Buffalo Point on the Buffalo River today. There is an old abandoned mining town close by called Rush. Here are a few pictures from the day. I’ve had my stock BFGs turned around so the white raised letters are to the inside. Looks better IMO. Thinking about taking the badges off to eliminate some of the bling.

Nice. You ever head down to the Mark Twain Nat'l Forrest? There are some pretty sweet trails out there.

 

I fished on the Buffalo many a time. Good smallmouth river if you catch it just right. Last year we went when the water was up so high and a guy in my group taco'ed a canoe around a tree...classic stuff. One minute he was right behind us, next thing I know we were trying to catch his beers as they were coming down the river. Lost the grate to the grill as well for our campout...we never forgave him for that. Hard to cook steaks without a grate!

DblD, for got to tell you, I got my bumper all painted and installed from Toyotapartsbarn.com. Thanks for the heads up on the site. It worked out great. I need to get some pics up. I put abut 4 coats of good rust o leum satin on it, and relocated the trailer harness as well.

 

Hey good to hear that the bumper worked out. Would like to see some pics of the relocated trailer harness. I see that is hangs down pretty low and I have thought about moving it but I’m not so sure where to mount it.

I’ve spent a great deal of time in the Mark Twain National Forest. Both wheeling Land Rovers and riding mountain bikes. The area around The Glade Top Trail and the motorcycle/atv area around Chadwick have some pretty good 4x4 trails. You just have to not mind the “Ozark Pinstripe” that is inevitable when exploring these areas. The Ozark 4x4 Club has adopted a trail in the MTNF down around Cassville in the Roaring River area. Also a pretty decent trail but I’ve not spent much time there.

We float the upper Buffalo once or twice a spring. Usually from Ponca to Kyle’s Landing and then camp at Kyle’s Landing. I haven’t ever floated the lower Buffalo. The 65 bridge is as far down as I have been. From the looks of the river around Yellville and Buffalo Point – I am missing out on some incredible scenery and nice flowing water. Really nice campground at Buffalo Point with great river access.

Thanks, I really wish I knew what I was doing behind the lens of a camera. Basically just point shoot and hope for the best. At least with digital I’m not wasting money on film and development.
