The Philips and Sylvania domes and maps I mentioned previously in this thread are working great for me in my 2014. I've tried both. I imagine output would be the same in a 16. The local autozone had a great selection of sylvania LED's yesterday. Looks like they swapped out their pilot brand line and replaced them all with sylvanias.

Just so I understand... Are you saying that you think my map/dome lights suck because I might have a crappy brand? If so, I might have to stop by autozone.

Yes that is what I'm saying. The Sylvania 168/194's are AWESOME in the map lights in my 14 (dome light, too). Pretty sure you wouldn't be disappointed. I can't even believe how bright they are. There are lots of cheapo crap LEDs out there. The pic you posted looks- those look like cheap-o's.

Sylvanias are the best out that as far as I'm concerned (as far as what you can find locally). I've tried various cheapo's and they suck in comparison. Some walmarts also carry the sylvanias locally. But autozone had the best selection.

I would consider these "no-name" LED's, as one member suggested above. Toss them. Get sylvanias.

The Sylvania dome light won't blow you away, but it's much better than stock. But the maps- I think you'll be surprised. They're almost too bright. Really handy when you need a little more light than the dome provides. I actually put a red incandescent bulb in the passenger side map light for when I need a little light when on dark highways at night. The led was just too bright. The red is really nice when it's pitch black out and you want to see but not be blinded.

Sylvanias were cheaper at autozone than they were on Amazon. FYI.

Well, you were 100% right on this one. Switched out to the Sylvanias and it lit up like a Christmas tree. I bought the 6000k, so it's more of a solid white vs the bluish tint you get with 8000k. I personally like the 8000k better, but at least I can see my own hands in front of my eyes.

    Thanks for the advice!

Glad they worked for you! I don't like pushing a product, but I was pretty sure on this one. Especially the maps. I even did my license plate lights. Not that I really care, but it's a better match to the tail lights. I was just so impressed with the 194's.

Can anyone tell me how to get the front map light lens off to access the bulbs?

Going to try this too. I thought my bulbs were dull from the factory.

Map lights need to be pulled out from the inside edge, essentially the two closest sides to both lights. Below are some pics I took when I did my lights last week. Once you get the inside edge pulled out about 1/4 inch you will see the outside edge will have a single point used to secure it. This single piece is sort of wedged behind the metal shroud. All you have to do at this point is gently pivot and turn it a little and it will come out. I also included pics where I used duck tape wrapped around the bulb to pull the bulb straight out. Too easy just make sure you use a non metallic tool to pry the inside edge open to prevent damaging the upper console plastic.
