The worst part would be walking out to your stand to hunt and having it not there and screwing up the hunt

    True.
I'm hunting with a crossbow these days. I carry a small backpack that carries a small, roll up ground blind.
Takes about 30 seconds to set up,and they work really well. Being up in the tree is nice, but having plan "B" is a nice option.

    You mean now?

I need a stand... Ground hunting this year, we'll see how it goes. I have a few spots picked out, just waiting for opening day.

Nice. LOVE bolt-action shotguns. I hunt Turkey and occasionally deer with an old Mossberg 395KB in 12ga with a poly choke. Crank it down for buckshot, or open it up and shoot slugs. But turkeys is where it's at with that gun; with the choke dialed all the way down you can disintegrate turkey heads at 50 yards.
I've been eyeing a Savage 220 for a while now, with the plan to put a red dot on it. How do you like yours so far? How tight does the mag seat? One thing I'm not crazy about my Mossberg is that the mag hangs kind of loose and it'll rattle if you bump it. Lost a turkey that way this spring because I wasn't watching where I put my support hand when I eased it out of a resting position. He heard it rattle and bolted.

First time I shot it and I'm impressed.
Been using my old 870 12ga with irons and smooth barrel for years and the Savage is a big improvement.
I lightened up the trigger to my liking too.
I put the Leupold 2-7x33 shotgun scope on it. Running Leupolds for years and am satisfied with them all.

Savage recommends Rem Accutips. I bought 7 boxes of 2 3/4 when I was in Kittery back in Sept. figuring I can always get more.
Man was I wrong. Scarce as hen's teeth in these parts. All the 12 ga you want but no 20's, anywhere.
Have enough for now, but if I knew that, I would've bought a case at Jittery TP.

Mag seats very well, and tight. Have to slam it it to seat it No rattles at all.

As said, touching holes at 100 with 2 3/4. I'm happy.

Looks good. I usually end up eating scrambled eggs loaded with cayenne and pepper after a workout. I have yet to learn how to make homefries though.

Had 2 over easy eggs too.

Home fries are really easy. Cube up some potatos and boil them 6-8 minutes. You want to soften them up a little, but not mushy. Drain them obviously. Get a skillet, I usually use cast iron but was too sore to lift the Damn thing this morning so I used a regular one. Heat upa few tablespoons of olive oil or butter in the skillet and add the potato and whatever else(i usually add some peppers and onion). Let it sit 5 minutes or so then put some seasoning on. I just use salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika. The key to them is letting them sit and not stirring them too often. Usually only flip/ stir them every 5 minutes so that they get nice and crispy. If you stir them too much they kind of turn into semi mashed potatoes.

Had a very productive-unproductive day. Got a ton done on my front bumper, trimmed it, added some gussets and some much needed shackle mounts. But had to run a very unnecessary errand to grab a grinding wheel I never used... Made do without it... so lost about an hour... Which with the days so short is a sure loss in the race against daylight... Still was working long after the sun set, then my halogen burnt out, so resorted to using my head lamp. After everything was welded and wire wheeled, I managed to prime it, and paint half of it. Just got inside about 15 min ago. Been working on it since 8 this morning. But it's not ready to go on the truck yet, so borrowing the gf's impreza to drive to work tomorrow. Gonna get up early early to finish the final coat, and then let it dry for the day so I can mount it tomorrow evening once I get home. Hopefully in my free time this week I can fabricate the behind the grill light mount and mount my lights. Anyway, here's a not so great picture of the test fit. I chopped almost 4"off the bottom. Looks a lot better.

You can kinda see the difference in this picture, how far down it used to come.

Now I just need some more 1/4" plate fur some skid plates...
