I could use some help picking out step tubes. What brand did you go with and why?

Now that I lifted the truck and can't get in. I have decided these are a must have lol.

Personal preference. Are you going to offroad the truck? Get sliders.

I had some OEM chrome tubes on my old 2003 TRD OR, they worked well and looked good IMO. A lot of people prefer the black powder coat / matte finish.

Remember to duck your head. Sliders look better IMO.

The truck we go off road but nothing crazy. I won't really be doing rock crawling. But I do like the look of the rock sliders. I know some brands have steps also that are removable.

I also like the extra support from the sliders. But I'm not sure if they make any that use factory holes for mounting or if I have to drill the frame.

There are Bolt-on options. Do some searching in the forums and you'll see folks with suggestions and links to the products.

    New to the Tacoma.

When they say Bolt on, obviously they bold them on the frame.

Does the frame have holes already predrilled really for you to slap sliders/steps on?

I think some actually mount to the body.

Yes, they use existing holes in the frame.

    :facepalm::boom:

    Oh God. I hope not.
I know that the OEM steps on the 4Runners are attached to the frame. But then again it's a 4Runner.

Jlee, I really don't need a step and don't do any serious off roading. My mom actually drives a Tacoma with steps and when I drive hers its a pain having to step over them while entering/exiting the truck. What im looking for is something to protect the body from car door dings. What are my options? Something that sticks out far enough to prevent car dings, but not out too far that I have to step "over" them/worry about getting my work pants dirty.

Sliders will stick out past the body well ours will so you will need to step on them to avoid rubbing your pants on them unless your tall.

I have had the stainless steel, chrome plated ones on two Tacoma vehicles and one 4 runner. They bolt right to the body. If you have a pneumatic wrench it is about a 30-35 minute job.

Gotcha. Hers are those chrome tube steps that seem to stick out 6-8 inches. Feels like im jumping outta the truck. I could deal with some "sticking out" just trying to minimize the distance while performing as I need it to. Anything like 2-4 inches?

I like the nfab sliders with step. I just don't know if they bolt to the frame with out drilling.

I need steps, it's 28" inches to get into my truck
