I like the idea of under the steering wheel, but is it visible from the passenger side window. A lot of police officers are now doing passenger side approaches, and upon seeing the thing you will probably be introduced to their little austiran friend on their hip.

Also if it is visible it would make the car a target for burglary. Just a concern I would have. I usually carry on me, (hip or shoulder holster) Wilson Combat Protector commander slide on officers grip... and may or may not have a dedicated detective's special in the console.;)

As far as a passenger side approach by an officer is concerned, it is covered by your right knee. From the visibility standpoint when the vehicle is unoccupied, its not exactly easy to spot. I leave mine in the holster daily in downtown Indianapolis, and have yet to have a problem. (of course, now that I said that, my truck will probably be broken into tomorrow...) Anyways, its pretty discreet.

If you have a proper, legal CCW, who cares if an officer approaches?? He should be glad you are there to support HIM!! If you are packing heat and do not have a proper CCW, you are only looking for trouble.

Carrying a firearm in any circumstance is a very serious situation. Especially is todays world, with Obamaism and the politically correct, Nancy Peloci gun-grabbing croud.

If you are legal, with a CCW, you are part of the solution.

If you are just packing heat without a CCW, you are fodder for the gun-grabber mentality that is ONLY just beginning. Please keep it legal. This means unloaded, hidden and in a holster.

BTW, I have a prominent NRA sticker on my right side rear bumper. Never had anyone mess with my vehicles!! It is like the sign "This house protected by Smith and Wesson" on the front lawn. Makes ill-wishers think twice!!

Yea, law enforcement can carry nationwide. That holster set up is actually a pretty good idea. Just have one holster in the truck and one on your hip. When you leave the truck you don't have to attach the holster to your belt, just swap the gun.

That is correct, LEOSA lets any LEO with statatory powers of arrest and current certs from their agency to carry nationwide. I also think they need to pass the law allowing concealed permit holders to do the same.

I usually don't have anyone in the truck with me so my trusty old .38 S&W sits on the passenger seat. When someone is in there with me its usually in my center console.

I like that the LEO's can carry nationwide and would like that to extend to trained CCW holding military members. Not too likely with a bunch of scared libs in high offices.

Mine is on my back, easy reach around to get. When I take it off, I put it in the center console.

XD-45, loaded at all times with one in the chamber. The 3 physical safeties keep me from being worried about an accidental firing. My Alaskan background makes it all comfortable.

I'm valid in over 30 states.
