This is the best I've done so far. Downtown Boulder to north Fort Collins via diagonal highway and 287. Would have been over 24 MPG had I not dealt with shitty Fort Collins traffic.
Seems like the sweet spot for MPG is 45-55 mph.

how to you get to "trip average fuel economy"?

My tank average is around 17.5ish which includes city, highway, and idling outside the stores waiting for my wife shopping..

This morning on the way to work i used the eco app on the entune system to monitor highway mpg and was averaging 21/22. I have 500 miles on there now. I was hitting the update button every 10 min. The last segment was when i hit traffic. It says average, but thats not a trip average, it just the average since i hit the update button last.

You can go into the multi-information display settings (last tab) and change one of the existing entries on the drive information screens to show trip average.

My truck is a 2016 Limited 4x4 with 670 miles on the odometer.

I just made a trip from Clearwater to Orlando, and this is the first time I got the new truck on the highway. Needless to say I was surprised, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

    1. Florida is flat so that helps.
    2. I lucked out because if anyone has driven I4, traffic can be a pain. On this day there was no traffic going. On the return there was traffic, but it was moving.
    3. Speeds varied from 60 mph to 75mph.
    4. Cruise control was used, but I ended up not using it as much on the return because of traffic.
    5. No ECT was used and I went out of my way to be gentle on the throttle.
    6. These numbers are just for this trip. I have observed a tank average of 18 mpg around town in traffic, but a lot of times my trip averages are in the 20 mpg + range.
    7. Tires warm had a pressure of 40 PSI.
    I was surprised...

Thanks for providing context. Most of these MPG posts leave out all the X factors. Great MPG.

I'm afraid the OR will always have bad mpg at speeds over 70 bc lack of the air dam

Ok, I filled up when leaving work today. I have a commute of about 50 miles, 35 of them are highway. I go from an elevation of approximately 0 up to 500 feet above sea level. My average cruising speed ranges between 70 and 80 miles per hour. I have a tank average and an average in the 20's right now.

Lucky me, I live where the speed limits are rarely 65+. Not till we travel to where the interstates are.

We dont have speed limits that exceed 65 in the peoples republik of new yorkistan. I just cruise with the flow of traffic. To drive the slower is a hazard to other drivers.

So, I have a recent consumer reports magazine, and they tested the good year adventure that comes on the off-road. It rated overall very well, in fact it was the #2 rated all terrain tire. However, it got a black circle, poor rating, for rolling resist, one of the only tires that scored that low in the category. After some more research, I read reports of people dropping 1-2 mpg when switching to the tires. This is more then likely a big reason the off-roads are coming in low, and the air dam.

I do quite a bit of highway driving, so I added an air dam to my off-road, and swapped the tires for a better rated tire for rolling resistance. I've already seen a 2 mpg improvement, half way through the first tank. I'll keep you all posted on future fill ups.

I don't think it is the air cam as much as the truck down shifting and staying there for way too long. the slightest hill and bam 4th gear and it stays there for a long time.below 2000 rpm it gets great mpg over that it sucks it down

Don't get me wrong, I want good mileage as much as the next guy. $175 for the air dam. For 1 mpg increase. I'll be smashing the H E double two sticks out of it long before I realize the payback from 1 mpg increase.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this in previous post but from what I have read the OR has a larger rear diff which would account for some of the mileage difference.

I hear you, but rather spend $175 with the potential of getting better mpg since I'm driving mostly on highways. Believing, it's also wise sticking with Oem 265s and keeping ride below a 3" lift.
