I have an S6 edge +, which should be similar to yours. What I have to do is remove it from the case since it appears that this charger doesn't put out the oomph that others do, turn on NFC, place it right on the little diagram on the pad with the top of the phone towards the driver's side. It's not exactly what I thought it would be, but it does work.

Did you try pushing the qi button after the phone is on the pad? My s6 has to be face up, with charging port facing driver seat, and placed as close to the shifter, and driver seat.

My Note 5 charges perfectly and my son's S6 is a bit more finicky. The S6 has to be moved around to find the sweet spot and because it is a smaller phone it can slide off that spot if you aren't paying attention.

I bought this case for my iPhone 6s+ and it works as expected. I've had it for two days, no issues. The case is quite nice. I can tell that the Tacoma charges it a bit slower than a normal plug-in-the-wall charger, but not really significant. I would totally recommend.

Yeah wireless charging is still very inefficient, which is why Apple hasn't adopted it yet.

Next to the GoPro mount I could see this option being one of the most superfluous and with a short-lived future. Somewhat of a gamble by Toyota if you ask me.

I'm hoping to set up my Valentine 1 radar detector to the GoPro mount...

I respectfully disagree... it's great not having to deal with wires. My commute is 30-45 mins, plenty of time to charge the phone.

I just think it might be a bit premature. Kind of a Betamax vs VHS feature at this point. Especially since Apple has not officially implemented it into their production platforms. Also I think the design specs for QI wireless will evolve quickly and while it might work on the S5 or Note 4, it isn't widely accepted enough for me to believe that it will be compatible 3 or even 2 generations away. Phone designs and specs just change too rapidly. My guess is in two to three years (possibly less) the Qi charging pad in the Tacoma will be nothing more than a glorified dusty coin holder.

I bought a MobilePal Qi wireless charging case off Amazon for my iPhone 6 and it works great.

I don't know if I would call Qi "inefficient"... it's not as fast as hard wired, but it's not slow or unusual. I don't think Apple has adopted it yet because they are developing their own proprietary technology. Sort of like when they never adopted the micro USB cable, even though it was pretty much universal, and instead developed their own Lighting plug.

Fair enough, but your worries about being premature can basically be used in all technology products. What's new today is old tomorrow, that's just the pace of technological innovation. Even if you wait your 2-3 years to let things sort out, the technology then (2-3 years out) is "new" and therefore will also inevitably be replaced/enhanced/changed. I am happy with Toyota adopting the Qi standard because it only costs me $20 for a phone case adaptor, and for the next 2-3 (or when the next best thing comes out) I have a clutter free, hassle free cabin.

    To each their own... cheers.

QI is great for BT streaming without running ones battery down. Or for those who don't have nav and use the Entunes with Scout. At the end of the day all it does is save wear and tear from the USB port on the phone.

It's inefficient as in there is energy lost (via the creation of excess heat) when compared to charging with a cable, which also leads to slower charging time. Apple won't adopt it until they have their own proprietary format that is faster and more efficient.
