How much towing do you do though?

Honestly, I wouldn't trade my Gas 1/2 ton for a Diesel 1/4 ton. It's not just all about the engine. I'd prefer to stick with a heavier truck for towing.

GM then went and shut down almost half of their operations in Canada. It was a great purchase .

Hate em, love em, whatever, just don't do it because they are "American." There are a lot more American trucks out there than something from GM in my humble opinion.

One thing to remember is that after all the dust settles it is still a GM product where quality is like bobbing for apples. Sometimes GM quality is just as allusive.

Like Toyota for one and Ford for another.

Building consistently good vehicles is not based on genetics or birth place but by engineering, corporate management and educated work force. Think Avalon, Tacoma, Ford F150. vs Chrysler/Fiat or GM. Drop the ball on any of the three requirements and you get an Edsel or a Jeep.

Thought it might come in higher, but it's enough to beat the Ram diesel.

As early as today.we could see the ad "Chevy trucks get the highest MPG".

As Sterdog says, doesn't make sense for everyone. Will take a while to recover premium paid. But, unless it turns out to be a turd, plenty will pay up because they love torque or they tow. Resale will recover most of the premium too.

    This was in another post.
Currently I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee (I'm on my 4th, all been great) and a couple of classic Alfa Romeo's. My wife has a BMW 540i. For my daughters, one has a Toyota Corolla, the other a Ford Focus. A ways back I did own a 2009 Tacoma.

I don't keep track of ads, but I know that no corporation spends millions for something that does not improves their sales. So if Ford sees value in running land speed record (like Nissan), there must be one. Ford did it, Nissan is doing it. Value is there regardless how one person feels about it. Otherwise those companies would not have done it.

I don't care if V8 gas can run for 5 seconds. Land speed records is raw power and ability to keep raw power until you set record. So does new V8 Ecoboost can beat Ford's diesel? if it can not than it sucks. Thats the bottom line here.
Speed test is equivalent of very very long ike gauntlet Running engine at maximum load for extended time.
So if Ford got land record to me that explains why that engine is such a great towing machine.

First time I am hearing Ford would put ecoboost in super duty. The guy here explains line up and says no ecoboost for 2017..

I doubt Ford spent "millions". I bet it was less than a million to modify and customize that truck for that run. Ford would rather spend millions on the F150 built Ford Tough videos that actually sells trucks...
Um, you need to look into top speed more. It's all about power to weight, air resistance and power output. If the V8 Ecoboost weighs significantly less than the Diesel than it doesn't need to make more power. Also, since the power band is wider, it can be geared differently to take advantage of the wider powerband up top. Torque is torque, as long as the raw number for the weight is the same then it's the same but if you start reducing the weights then you need less power to get your top speed.
So you are saying any engine that is great at towing should be a top speed engine? So why isn't the internal combustion speed record held by a modified heavy Cat Diesel... What you are saying doesn't make sense.
None for 2017. That is correct. There is speculation on where the 5.0 L Ecoboost will end up because it's not going in just the Raptor and the Shelby. It was mentioned as the replacement for the 6.2 L in the F250 a few years ago and the rumors persist. It won't be better for some people, for others it will be. Diesel is king in the 3/4 ton world when you have to tow a lot.

I'm not sure you could find enough Nissan fans to fill an A380.

 Damn. There. Now we know why they are building a race truck instead.

    @BlueT here's a good quote:
    http://horsepowerkings.com/the-f-150-raptor-will-receive-the-ecoboost-5-0-twin-turbo-v8-in-2018/

Like I said it's all speculation but it could be an interesting engine in a F250.

Anyways, I think we are slipping towards a Diesel discussion and that wasn't my point. the Titan XD Diesel should be a promising engine given that it is a Cummins and I'm not going to stand here and knock it around. Going back to my original statement, I hope Nissan plans on doing something flashy that has to do with towing and this truck to drum up some conversations about it on the work site. Pulling something monsterous would create some interest that building a HD race truck won't

I am sure they would do towing too, they just doing what Big 3 usually does , and land speed is one of them. There is no doubt that Cummins engine is going to kick some ass. they probably already tested to see if they have the chance of beating it.
Never the less, its going to be nice to see it.

Diesels tend to not like sitting at the redline. It's fun to watch a gas engine do it but something is going to come flying out of the Diesel if you do that for a few days lol.
