It has to do with the OME struts having internal metal bump stops. Over 5 MPH on a speed bump and they make a clanking sound. Under that and they don't (on my truck of course).

    YMMV.

I would just look to the future a bit. I went with the Dakkars because there is a Snugtop, Pelfreybilt Rear Plate Bumper, and a Prinsu rack for the roof of the Snugtop in my future. That's a few hundred pounds of weight, so I needed the beefy leafs.

Fair enough. I have been looking around at some high clearance plate bumpers with a water/gas rack and tire carrier. So I guess it might be worth it

so thers no fix for the speed bump clunk? is it destroying the shock everytime it happens? what happens when you're offroading is it clunking over everything? just put my lift on this weekend it has the speed bump clunk.

can anyone link me to a thread discussing this in detail of whats actually going on. iv read a couple threads that are confusing circles of linking to other threads of people complaining about it.

    There is.

It isn't bad for the shock. It's designed to do that.

There's nothing to be alarmed about. If it bothers you go with a different shock.

It's an internal bump stop, it works the same as any bump stop - preventing shock damage. There isn't much more to it than that.

Read my last post and stop fretting like an old lady.

    It's fine.

If the noise bugs you then do not get OME struts. It's a sound produced by design.

    BY DESIGN.

Do you know if anybody has a sound clip of this noise? I feel like I could safely make my decision based off of how annoying the noise is haha

It clanks whenever the shock is quickly compressed and rebounding. Offroad or on road.

It isn't that loud. It sounds like a metal clunk noise. Like a loose shock bolt items in the bed rattling or something.

    No.

They don't have internal bump stops like OME does.

They clank because everybody tries to get 3" with shocks designed for 2" of lift
