What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

I have this exact truck on order. I would love for mine to have a similar stance once lifted and new tires are on. What are the exact measurements of your tires, what lift is on front and back, and did you maintain factory rake? Beautiful truck!

No not really.

 

Guys a few smile thing you might want to do when doing your lift.

1 rear emergency brake cable hangers pull on the cable. Just cut them off and and switch sided so they hang down not up.

2 when doing diff drop. You will need to shop the skid plate about 1/2 in on the back side.

3 if doing rear blocks get the once that are tapered. So the drive shaft has a straight run into the rear.

4 the sway bar needs to be dropped also. The angle on the end link sits ate 45 degrees if not.

5 make sure to add 1/2 inch to your front bump stop of you front strut spacers.

Yeah traded it in to get this. This one should be almost as quick with intake, headers, y pipe, exhaust, etc.

Sorry if I missed it, but has anyone tired running the BFG KO 2’a in 275/70R17? Right, now I’m in the process of selecting the correct lift , but I’d like to keep the original rims. Seems that the 285’s may rub unless I purchase a spacer kit. Maybe I’m in left field but I figured I’d toss it out there. I’m not looking to go nuts, but the truck needs a little lift and new sneakers.

With the lifts mentioned above (i.e., Bilstein 5100’s, Fox, Icon, Toytec, etc.), I was wondering how they all hold up in salty conditions, as PENNDOT loves to spray brine where I live. That s*()& destroys everything.

I'm borrowing an image from another forum member. I hope that's okay to do.

My '16 is on order and while this isn't a '16, I love the stance for being only 265/70R17's on it. I want to stick with 16" wheels on mine and do a 265/75R16 (approx. the same size tire as seen in this pic).

I know you can get a 265/75R16 on a '16 without any lift, but I don't like the stuffed wheel well look.

Can anyone help me determine how much lift I need on a '16 to get about this much space in the wells?

I would recommend going with coilovers up front with 1.5" to 2" of lift and leave the rear stock, or Coilovers with 2"- 2.5" of lift and 1.5" AAL in the back.

i'd like to know how wheel spacers affect the geometry/turning radius...although the surely help in keeping the tire from contacting the "uca",does the added radius affect contact/non-contact on the fender at the rear of the wheel well?you'll be going to a wider tire with more sidewall,and while lifting "may"effectively move critical contact points...will it be enough?

I have a question for you guys that are familiar with tire clearances and sizes. I have a 16 DCLB 4X4. I don't want to lift it but would like to put the TRD SEMA 17" rims on. Whats the largest tire I can fit on them with out rubbing? I believe the diameter is the same as stock at 8", now I see they come in a bunch of different offsets, does anyone know what the stock offset is and how much I can go without causing any rubbing?
I read here on one of these threads the 16's is about an inch or 1-1/2" higher than the 15's, does anyone know if it was the spring block to achieve this? Where Im going with this is I don't like the raked look from rear to front, instead of raising the front I want to see if the rear can be simply lowered by just changing out the block.
I don't plan any heavy wheeling, been there done that over the years. Below is a pic of the TRD wheel I am wanting to get.

Don't know about the offset, but you don't want to drop the rear to even out the front. Don't even think about taking out the overload spring to get your desired height unless you want issues. You're going the wrong way. There were no blocks put on the 16 to increase the ride height from previous years. Only the front was slightly raised by the new spring used, nothing was done to the rear.

My best recommendation as I'm sure others here would agree is get yourself a set of Bilstein 5100s up front, set it at .85 and call it a day. GL.
