    Hey all,

So I've been working pretty closely with @HomerTaco and we're almost ready to go to production with the 2012 - 2015 Satoshi grills.

    As a refresher, here is my initial prototype;

    0E770287-72D6-42C0-8C69-8B3C97426D97_zps_d96bc55811aa30cb69eca8bbd20cdb8ba4e10f74.jpg

    2D1F5852-E6A3-446B-A414-2365D8F4EA56_zps_5793da1edc3b2bf805447a2427eabbb52b683208.jpg

    5683C314-CA23-4858-8BB0-B58F3EF4DD79_zps_26a90cfc3b7dd43f5f08618bc0602c9aace3f021.jpg

I'm going to start off by making two of these. They are not quite prototypes, but more-so pre-production samples. If you're interested, I would like to pre-book the sales for these and I can custom cater the finished product to your own liking while I'm at it. I figured this thread was a good place to start with making this offer as a token of my appreciation to those of you who are still watching my slow development of cool stuff for our trucks :D.
    • As a disclaimer, I can not promise hard-set delivery dates. I've only made a couple prototypes and I'm not sure how much time these realistically take. Factor that wild card in with my already impacted work-load, and it could be several weeks or months before I have these built and ready to go.

    • As an incentive, I can promise custom lettering for the grill for an introductory price. I'll make any logo / lettering that you want for it.

    • I will not be making these pre-production samples in "raptor-style" configuration, because I have not yet completed the design for my own rendition of the raptor style.

    • The listed price is a one time offer and does not reflect the pricing structure that the production level grills will adhere to.

    • Asking price is $680 each plus shipping.
Feel free to PM or email me for more details or if interested.

I can get an OEM colour matched grill for $222 U.S. That's $296 CAD. In short, you're saying that the mesh insert and lettering makes it worth another ~ $458?!? Not knocking the product but......

There is a lot more going on with the grills that I make than a simple mesh insert and some lettering. Those are the easiest parts involved in making a grill like this. I'll post here what I posted in my separate for sale thread:

These are extremely time consuming to create and they require special equipment. I've invested about $4,000 in tools and equipment to make these properly. They require 3d printed parts which I designed and produce, myself. That design was not an easy one, either. It could take multiple attempts to get them to even print correctly. It takes about 8 hours to print the parts just for making the grill. The custom lettering / emblems is also time consuming and tedious to print correctly. They don't just come off of the printer ready to be put on a grill, either. Plenty of body work to do on those before I can paint them. Also, plastic welding and the body work required to make the grills look the way they should is very tedious and has a pretty decent margin for error, which could set me back an entire grill just from one small mistake. Obtaining, cutting, powder coating, and mounting the mesh is also time consuming. I 3d print special mounts to hold the mesh on securely, which get bonded to the body of the grill.

The $680 price tag is pretty reasonable considering the time involved to produce one of these and the overhead / design aspects. I would love to get these to a point where I could make more of them with less work involved, and charge less => sell more, but that would require some serious evolution in design and processes.

If it was easy they'd be available from other sources already....
Customcargrills & stealthtaco make a 12-15 grill that is essentially one step above a Grillcraft (no offense to them intended) This is a true "satoshi" style grill with difficult fabrication work.

There is a lot of stuff mentioned here, which I am hearing for the first time, that is clearly way beyond what else I have seen done before, both in pictures on this site and on product I have purchased, for these styles of aftermarket grills (like zip ties and bolt or screws epoxied on as studs, etc.). The details mentioned above would take the quality to another level entirely, and I think a level that will increase durability and finish inside and out.

Of course we have yet to see how the pricing for various details and options works, which I am eagerly looking forward to. If folks to save some $$$, they can go by some OEM or ebay badges, or whittle something out of ivory or whatever with a dremel tool for several hours.

I suppose. Like I said, I'm not knocking the product at all just didn't understand where the extra ~ $500 came into play. I suppose if I had an endless truck budget I'd have all the goodies on it but alas, I am but on a beer budget and $900 CAD is...a lot of money.

Maybe I'm just envious because I love the look of the grill but can't fucking afford one. Too many other things to do to the truck first.

    Nice work guys.

Oh, and to answer Shane's question in the OP. I'll be buying a 15 Homeroshi, but no, I would not be interested in these letters/badges. It should be noted that my preferences are for simpler, more spare designs, and fewer badges and symbols in general. Likewise, I'd prefer a simple M1 mesh grill over a Raptor style. That's just my personal preference.

I'm not saying this to disparage your design or effort, but just to give you feedback on your prospective target market.

Just to be a tease..... Here is my first rendition of my Raptor style.

    F6665906-075B-4C6D-8F95-869105BEE4A0_zps_7feda5780c72da0ed9907aaeb3af58fcb8a0a8f0.jpg

It's just primered in this picture, and still requires a bit more body work, but I'll be using the slotted mesh behind it in 3 places and I think I'm going to have this one line-x coated for a more rugged and unique look.

Will the mesh have three molded slots for "flush" mounted LEDs? I love the raptor light mod and want to do it myself one day. This would look phenomenal with it. Just my .02!! Fantastic work, btw.
