All, thanks for the wishes, laughs and advice. It has been exactly 3 weeks and still no sign of the truck. Needless to say, insurance has been a disaster...despite the fact that I PAY A MONTHLY PREMIUM FOR COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE, they are still exploiting the opportunity to kick me while I'm down and make this process as difficult as possible (save it: I don't want to hear "they're just doing their jobs"...lol).

I had a friend share a really interesting LifeProTip with me this weekend. Would have been more useful a few weeks back when I had taken two days off of work to hunt down my Taco with no luck, but interesting nonetheless. The tip said that if your vehicle gets stolen, after going to police and insurance, head down to city maintenance and pass out fliers with a pic/description of your car to the garbage men offering a $50 reward. These guys roam every street and alleyway sometimes 2-3 times a week and they will almost definitely see it if it still in the city. Again, information that would have been more useful earlier in my life...but much appreciated either way.

At this point, I have been test driving the '16s (just to get my fix in, can't afford one of those yet lol) and just passing the days while insurance is "doing their job". Thanks again for all the support! Definitely will take it all to heart!

So now on top of a truck being stolen and dealing with that, your family and/or friends are having to raise bail to get you out of jail, figure out how to pay for your legal defense for killing someone over a truck, which is covered by insurance...sounds like a perfectly reasonable solution.

Just out of curiosity, how was it stolen? Did you leave it unlocked with the keys in it? Is it possible to hotwire a taco? See an awful lot of threads about stolen trucks...

Because one guy has a thread about his being stolen?

They are basic vehicles with basic theft deterrent systems. Only the V6 models have engine immobilizers, so all you need to steal a 2.7 is a key, or other ignition activator.

V6 isn't much harder with the immobilizer. YouTube is your friend.

Its not hard to steal one there are ways of bypassing the immobilizer r they can just switch the ecu out takes only a few mins. Sucks but insurance will pay out it just takes time. They have to give it time for it to turn up. I hope it all turns out good.

Insurance always drags their feet. Everything they can do to prevent payout, so they can "keep" money in the pockets.

I wouldn't actually kill anybody. It's the fight or flight response. In that situation I would want to fight

Man that sucks...here in the DFW area, I've heard of dudes running around with repo style setups in the bed of their trucks to snatch a car up and leave quick with it for stealing...
