My queen size inflatible coleman mattress showed up today. Miiiiight have to buy @IGGY 's sleeping bag. If I can make camping as luxurious as possible while still being able to fit it all in the bed, I might be able to get the Wife out camping more often. Hollister is my test run.

The Lodge at Yosemite Falls is pretty nice. Curry Village is another option. You can probably get reservations on short notice this time of the year. Otherwise, staying outside the park will give you about an hour's travel each way. Yosemite West has a number homes for rent. Wawona is still inside the park but maybe 40 minutes from the valley. Farther out Hwy 41 is Tenaya Lodge. On Hwy 141, there's the Yosemite Cedar Lodge in El Portal that's got rooms, a place to eat, and isn't too bad price wise. Again, it's outside the park by an hour and a half or so. Hwy 120 side of the park is probably easiest way into and out of the park. Groveland has a bunch of places as does Buck Meadows.

If you feel like splurging, the Ahwahnee is way nice and also in the park. If it was me, I'd stay in the park at either Curry Village or the Lodge. And those tent cabins really aren't that bad-except no king sized bed :D

Not sure if the road will be open but head up to glacier point. Awesome views of half dome and the valley and beyond...
Easy short hike is Mirror Lakes. Have always seen lots of cool stuff there. Bears, deer, rockslides, and even the elusive beaver :D. The valley shuttle takes you right there.
Can't really go wrong in Yosemite...

Anyone have a 285/70/17 in good shape they want to get rid of? Need it for a spare and dont want to buy a brand new one right now. After buying 5 SR8s and 4 new tires, a used spare will work fine.

I happen to have a Bridgestone dueler a/t 285/70/17 new w nubs (but better check manufacture date) mounted on a fj 17". It was my old full size spare before I went 16s. Good deal for you if you just want the tire. Free. Just have to get it dismounted.

I agree about Mirror Lake. The shuttle buses can take you almost anywhere you want for free-just make sure to take a jacket and whatever with you. The road to Glacier was closed last week I think-most certainly will be if they're getting snow now-but you can still go as far as Badger Pass and hike on the road (or ski/snowshoe).

Tunnel View offers a pretty good view of the valley & Half Dome. You can hike above the tunnel too (there's a trail) for a more unique view. Bridalveil Falls, Yosemite Falls, and Cathedral Beach are a couple of spots worth stopping too.

Yeah I plan on being there but I'll be working at a swim meet in the east bay until whenever it's over. SHOULD be done by 3 but never really know. If I don't make it you could take a detour through Alameda to pick it up

I might be able to cruise down to sac one evening or something, doing our own family Xmas tree run that weekend too. What part of the sac area is he coming to?
