Had a bad experience with KB Voodoo, and I’m so frustrated and angry with the owner that I feel compelled to report about it here. Your experience may be better or worse than mine, but that is immaterial. I am simply posting a negative review for a negative experience that I had with KB Voodoo.

A month ago I ordered a pair of XRXS Bed Cross Bars for my new Tacoma. A couple of days after ordering, I received an email from KB stating that the product had been shipped, and providing tracking numbers.

For a week, I checked with the post office several times each day in an effort to track my shipment, but they assured me that they had not received the package from KB. In frustration, I emailed KB, and was told by Chad that he had run out of the XRXS, but would ship them the following morning.

I responded that the delayed shipping would be no big deal, but it would have been nice if he had TOLD me that they had not shipped, saving me the trouble and anxiety of continually trying to track the non-existent shipment. He blew me off, not even bothering to respond to me. This was the first indication I had that Chad had not merely made a mistake, or that he was simply being careless, but that he was actively deceiving me about the shipment. Rationally, what valid reason would there be to start a shipping order for an item that did not exist in inventory? At the least, he was being disrespectful and evasive in not responding to my email.

Well, the bars did not ship the next day (he didn’t tell me, the PO did), or the next, or the next. Again, no effort on his part to inform me of his slipping ship date.

The bars finally did ship, and I received them a couple of days later. The design is brilliant, and I’m sure to get a lot of use from this product. But the packaging was sub-par (loose, in a box, with zero packing), and so the bars suffered a bit of scratching and gouging in transient as they rubbed against one another. Worse, the CNC process was sloppy and imprecise, and so the ends of each slot are buggered up, not at all like in his on-line photos. The powder coating is also inconsistent and messy in several places.

Now these issues are not the end of the world, and they will not diminish the functionality of the bars. From the positive reviews I’ve seen, they also appear to be an anomaly, rather than commonplace. But when I pointed them out to Chad via another email, he did not offer to rectify them, or even offer an apology. Yet again, he did not even bother to reply to me.

And that is why I am writing this negative review. It is a great product, with sloppy execution. I can live with that. But Chad’s careless (or even deceitful) declaration of shipping dates, and his cavalier attitude toward my concerns, means that I will not be buying anything else from him. I’d send these back, but he will not respond to my emails, and at this point I would not trust him to refund my money. I will use them, but I’ll always have a bitter feeling about them because of the way Chad has treated me as a customer.

Maybe he had a bad day, or a bad month. Maybe 99% of his transactions go smoothly and without issue. But mine did not. All he had to do was say “I don’t know what happened, but it is not your fault and I am sorry”. Had he done so, I would have asked for nothing, been happy and kept quiet. But his total disregard for my concerns is inexcusable. The true test of a man’s character his how be he behaves when things do not go as planned. Something went wrong with this order, and rather than address it, he has chosen to ignore it and me. I have lost all respect for this man.

    Frank

    NOTE:

The above review was first posted on Wednesday, October 28. Then, sometime between Wednesday evening and 05:00 hrs on Thursday, October 29, my posting and the entire thread had disappeared.

I have since contacted TacomaWorld administration twice, on October 29 and November 01, inquiring as to whether my thread had been lost by intent or accidentally, or possibly by an external hack. I have not heard anything from TacomaWorld, and so I have re-posted it above, verbatim to my October 28 posting.

I will take this opportunity to now add that, if my posting was accidentally lost, so be it. My reposting will correct that. However, if my posting of a negative review in the ‘Vendor Review’ sub-forum was intentionally deleted, well then, that would be terrible. I am an unhappy customer, and I gave an honest, detailed review. If I am not entitled to do that, or if the vendors have the power to cause a negative review to disappear, then that entirely undermines the value and honesty of the Vendor Review sub-forum. I do not know that these things happened, and I am making no accusations, but the circumstances are suspicious. If I have been censored, this would be a HUGE disservice to the TacomaWorld membership, and a great injustice to those vendors who do care about customer support.

    Sorry to hear.

One possible explanation on the shipping thing is that the post office sucks.

I got a set of head lights ordered from a member on here. He was shipping from Louisiana. He said they shipped and sent me tracking but the post office said they didn't exist. I started to get nervous after 3 days and all of a sudden they appeared in tracking in Washington. Really weird.

I would certainly hope TW doesn't censor posts - I doubt it. Too bad you had a rough experience, hopefully @KB Voodoo can post some form of explanation.

IIRC he already replied in the other thread. I recall an apology and it boiling down to miscommunication.

Your message count of nearly 30,000 in 3.5 months testifies to your frequency of posting, but not to your accuracy. With all due respect, sir, Chad most definitely did NOT apologize in my original thread, nor did he attribute my complaints to miscommunication. You recall incorrectly.

    Frank

EDIT: My mistake and apology. Nearly 30,000 posts in approximately 15.5 months is more accurate.

It's been a bit longer than 3.5 months.

Either way, I said if I recall correctly. As Bob said, he's looking into it. So, hang tight.

But if he is claiming a bunch of issues through e mail and one party posts all that side has. The other party should have to have proof of what they have. With that said, the stuff Chad did for me was above and beyond what he should have done. What started out as a bad experience ended up as great experience and a friendship. Like in the last thread where you posted this review, you claimed to have all types of e mails that you state you have sent to him. But yet didn't post any proof as to sending them or anything else. Maybe they got stuck in your outbox, or something else happened. Chad posted all e mails he had of conversations, so as you should have as well. Hopefully this gets all worked out soon so Chad can go back to being the stellar vendor he is.

The slot cut away aren't precise and they're not CNC because the starter holes drilled are really bad. I don't care because it's already on my truck and in use but this should be pointed out. VooDoo needs to step up.

Oh and the space in between the each slot should be 2" or more because the 1/2" is giving way to flex
