    Picked up a S&W model 686 - 6" (357 Mag). Big brother for my much smaller model 60 - 3".

I sold one exactly like that 25 years ago and I'm still kicking myself.

Ive been wanting one of those! I have a S&W 19-3 but it has sentimental value so i dont want to shoot or carry it to much.

I just bought two wimp guns for concealed carry. S+W 642 .38
And a Ruger LCR 9mm. Could not decide which I liked best so bought them both. The smith looks the best but the LCR is actually more practical. It loads and unloads very quickly with moon clips, has a better trigger pull and is built on the .357 frame. I always liked the 9mm round more then a .38
I just couldn't resist he Smith though. I had a Model 19 also years ago and with out a Smith, my sidearms weren't complete.

I'm really tempted to get the LCR 9mm for the gf since I carry a Shield 9 and wouldn't have to buy any different ammo.

Not a bad strategy. I employed it myself when I was first starting my collection. Got a G19, a S&W 5906, and a Shield 9. Then I got a .380 and a .22, and things have kind of spiraled from there into a .357 (which also obviously needs .38 kept on hand too) and .45. Now ammo takes up as much space in my safe as guns. Maybe more...

These are from AIM. I picked them up Sunday night from an FFL in a Walmart parking lot.
NY police trade in gen2 g19 and an Anderson lower. The 19 has an NY2 trigger spring. It feels like every bit of 15 pounds. Nothing a $2 trigger spring won't fix.

You won't be disappointed. It only "looks" a little funky compare to the Smith. It actually functions much better. Be aware, the kick is a little more then my Glock G26. But, if she can handle 148 grain .38 from a snub, it should be fine. The biggest advantage, it loads and unloads quicker then an auto. Convenient when you have kids in the house and want to store unloaded. I like it because some women have trouble cycling a small auto and requires two hands. So, in an emergency with only one hand available, it's always ready to go.
You may actually like it too for yourself......Taurus makes a little bigger version and I owned the 9 mm revolver from them some years ago. It was a jamming piece of shit. Imagine, a revolver that jams with good ammo. Stay away from their crap at least in this platform.

Beautiful. I've been drooling over the 686+ pro series 5" for about 2 years now. Never really been a revolver guy, but nothing ever felt so right in my hand as that 686+.

On another note, I also finally got to handle a KSG. Man are they small. Way easier to handle than my 20" M590A1.

As far as ammo in a short barrel snub, we always went for a slow, heavy lead slug in .38 s. HPs plus Ps I don't feel expand reliably in them and that extra velocity just kicks more with no perceivable advantage. The same with 9mm. We do a lot of hiking and rabid animals which some have encounter around here, need penetration. These babies are light, easy to carry and very safe one handed operable.

I'm curious about this assertion; I've put over 1500 rounds through my Shield so far and haven't had any malfunctions. I've fed it everything from 115 gr, 124gr, 147gr, hollow points, polymer tipped Hornady's, FMJ round nose, flat nose, etc. and it hasn't even hiccupped. I'm just wondering what function advantages the LCR has, other than being a revolver vs a semi?

Some revolvers just evoke "bad-assness"....this one being one of them!

Actually this is my Third gen2 19. I like to keep them stock if I'm gonna carry them.
I've found a dot connector from a gen4 and a heavy .25 trigger job makes for a fine stock trigger.
Also I just got these for it today.

The - connector with the NY trigger brings the pull to a steady 6ish pounds. About the same as a factory non-NY trigger.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
My favorite Glock sights have them on both my Gen 4 19 and 34

I know a lot of people like that combo, but I don't really like it.
The dot connector in a gen 2 yields a crisp 4.7- 4.9# pull.

Nice.I normally go with Warrens, but I figured I'd give these a try. They're pretty much the same as Warrens but the notch in the rear is completely rounded instead of just the corners of the notch. In theory it should be a little quicker to acquire a sight picture.
