Good for them, bad for consumers. Did you see what they're getting? Don't be surprised if the base Ford starts in the low $30k range.

It'll probably look a little more like these. I'll probably still buy a Tacoma but I think this will be the only real threat to Toyota in the midsize pickup truck arena.

    Whole lotta stuff
^I agree. It's rockin the horrid Chevy avalanche curves in the bed, the hood lines still remind me of a Ford Escape, heck and the fender flares are even plain circular.

    Miss the old ranger.

I had a 2003 Ranger and it was a great little truck for hunting and minor hauling. Bullet proof and never let me down 140k miles. It also didn't look half bad with a leveling kit a wheels/tires. Not a fan of the "car look" front end on those prototype photos of the Ranger.

That 's great. But, if Ford throws the mother load into the Ranger including more aluminum and turbo 325 hp fours that get 25 plus mpg, it just makes it's better for we Taco owners. Toyota sat on their ass for ten years becasue we were buying every ten year old designed truck they could make. Ford just pushes the envelope so we see a new one every nine years instead .

unless they put some type of rhino liner in the area of the tie downs, no one will want to use them when the truck is brand new.. afraid of scratching that area..

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    Agreed.

Not only that, but by the measurements of just a few years ago would have been practically full size trucks. Kinda like new Civics are the size of old Accords.

And how can they be called mid size when there is nothing smaller? Doesn't that make them actually the small truck?

    Inquiring minds and all that.

    from the article:

•Retirees get $1,000 in four annual $250 cash payments or gift cards. Surviving spouses get a total of $500 over the four years in $125 annual payments. They also can use the revived Legal Services Plan.
•A $2,000 signing bonus for temporary employees with at least 90 days on the job.
•Temporary workers already employed by Ford will make $17 to $22.50 per hour, depending on the number of years with the company.

That would be soooooo sorry if those temporary workers get let go on day 85.

Not so much for actual truck owners.

    But true for the street-driven-I-have-a-tough-truck-see-it's-leveled-with-big-tires-crowd.

For most cars which have gotten bigger though, they have managed to keep the weight down and continue with a smaller engine. The Tacoma is bigger then the first gen, but the motors are the same size. Modern tech motors and more plastic then metal...Well, not quite.
