Been up to Santiago Peak a few times, Gorman/Hungry Valley once and Cleghorn a few times as well (first time it was nice and dry, second trip was wet and muddy, both times I had a blast). This was all done in my previous extra cab.

So far in my double cab, I've only been out to Holy Jim trail.

In keeping with the point of this thread, my favorite spot so far has to be Cleghorn.

    Santiago Peak (stock):

We took 1 PreRunner and had to tow it up a couple of the climbs. Might raise your stress level taking away from the fun, since it requires finesse and a lot of the skinny pedal for the 2wd people. The main service road is passable for a 2wd and it runs all the way to the top. It's not challenging like the 4wd trail. still scenic and a good time.

Good thread. You think the OP could be updated with the various trails mentioned and maybe coordinates or directions?

Pilot Rock is off the 138 right next to Silverwood lake, across the lake from Cleghorn. Same exit off the 15 you would take to go to Wrightwood, or Mt. High, except you turn right. Follow 138 to 173 and make a left. Follow 173 for a little while until you get to Pilot Rock Truck trail on the right. Takes you up to the lake. Trail is off to the left before the dam and the turn around area. 3rd road on the right after you cross the stream.

If weather permits, I'll be heading up North Main Divide with some friends Sunday. Love this trail for the all around views and the convince of living close to it. It'll be my first time there in my own truck :D

Off Hwy 74 coming from the west, turn Left on Forest rte 3S04/N. Main Divide just past "Hell's Kitchen" & that place with the killer jerky. Its Paved for a bit, eventually breaks off to Blue Jay campground(left) or the dirt road. Keep right and eventually you'll reach Santiago Peak.

As far as I know, other side of Santiago peak (Leading to Maple Springs rd) is still closed so you will have to return the same way you came.

Did they close the gate to the radio towers for the winter, or can you still get up to the towers? I haven't been up there in a while, it's not far from where I live.

Well I haven't made it to the big peak from hwy 74 in a long time, but I've gotten pretty close recently with no gate issues. However coming from Santiago canyon/Blackstar area, the gate at the base is closed for sure. I know there are lots of trails that lead up to the main trail from corona area, but again, not sure about those gates either

Not sure what Time you and your friends are going, but I'm going to try to get to the first open gate on the right after blue jay camp ground around 10. Time depends on how I feel from the day before.

True, depends how Saturday night ends up going. But I'll talk to them more about it, they want to take their enduros, and I have a friend in a F150 who is always down to get out. I would go out alone but I don't have all my recovery gear yet, rather be safe than sorry.

I have a winch and recovery strap, so if I'm up there no worries. I've helped tons of people I've come across in sketch situations. Usually the worst you can do up there is get a flat, have yet to see anyone get sideways and go down a slope. Usually dropping tire pressure to 20 will suffice for the sharp shale rock up there. F150 is a wide rig for a trail that narrow.

Much appreciated! I'm only really worried about getting a flat, my tread is getting low. Buying a HiJack come payday too.
& yeah we take it up there a lot, its a big rig but I guess he likes that Mojave pin-stripe look
