887 is a long coil versus the 885

Just more lift since its a longer coil. The spring rate of the coil determines how stiff the ride is, since both the 885 and 887 have the same spring rate they will ride the same but you will gain more lift out of the 887

ohhh good to know i was about to do the 885 with 1/2 spacer to achieve a full 3" but it sounds like your saying it would be better/smarter to just get the 887?

Yeah, no top plate spacer. Like @northwesttaco mentioned earlier, the 885 and 887 have the same spring rate, but the 887 is just slightly longer. I'd definitely go with the 887 if you're trying to achieve as close to 3" as possible.

I can't say that I have any clunking from the front. Are you lifted yet? If not I would take the truck to your dealer and have them look at it before you do anything to your suspension. Once you lift it, it will be easier to deal with the shop who lifted it if you experience any noises or abnormalities as Toyota will simply point to the lift.

From what I'm reading, it sounds like you are going to go with a 3". Be aware that 3" is the point at which some people have issues, some don't. I didn't want to risk being one of the ones that do so I stuck with 885 coils for 2.5" of lift. Even with a 3" lift you will most likely have to do the cab mount chop to fit 33" tires.

so do you have this issue with the front shot clunking over speed bumps, i thought i was ready to go and reading about it has really thrown me for a loop. if its only over speed bumps im okay with that, because i think that happens with my stock suspension (or im bottoming out) but i care about highway comfort

after all my research i thought i was going with ome the reason im not is because of the "speedbumb goes bang" feature in the ome front shock. i also decided after seeing some trucks with with 265's that looked good ill go that rout now i know dakars give you about 2.75" of lift. but to make the proportion look right with the tires i only want it to have 2" of lift (i like the way the 2" add a leaf looks but i hear the ride quality is shit) so by removing the 3rd leaf with the improve ride quility and give me 2" roughly rather then 2.75? i know its tought to be exact because i also have a leer cap.
